[history]
A statue of Wayne Gretzky in Edmonton, Alberta, was adorned with a sign that read "U$ Lackey" in protest of the hockey star's recent comments supporting President George W. Bush in the war against Iraq.
Employees of Skyreach Centre quickly removed the cardboard sign Tuesday from the statue at the entrance to the home arena of one of Gretzky's former teams, the Edmonton Oilers.

David Warren has commented before that, because Canada is so weak on terrorism and just weak generally, it's only a matter of time before some terrorist attack from Canada prompts a US invasion out of sheer necessity. For the record, he is a Canadian himself.

That's dumb... I'm a mario lemieux fan myself - always thought lemieux was better - but that almost offends me just as much... ;)

How DARE they. I'm so sick of hearing how these cretins are defacing and vandalizing private and public property. I think the word should go out that they will be punished to the max. How come they are all getting away with it? There was a story here in San Diego...I'll try to find it for you guys. It's outrageous.

Thanks, Gretzky!

A US lackey? What are they talking about? During the US vs Canada Hockey games during the Olympics, that guy was CLEARLY 100,000 percent pro-Canada, to the point of saying some anti-American things.
These protestors make me wanna spit a big, thick, loogey all over their faces..

Hey thats right...during the Olympics Gretzky went ballistic about the US team and the coverage of it. Then he incurred some wrath from US hockey fans
But, good that he supports the President in our fight against terrorism and terrorist states. Really disgusting that the "Peace" crowd defaced his statue

Yes, I hate it when that happens (no link). We shouldn't have to be like pigs in search of some truffles.

Imagine it being 1993 all over again, when Clinton the hosebag first takes office.
The depressing and overwhelming stench of Socialism permeates the air.
Welcome to Canada circa 2003.

According to the article, all they did was put a sign up, not deface the statue. There is a difference. Not that I agree with their opinion, but this is not the same as destroying property.
