Rally for America II - The first one was such a success -the Ventura County Chapter is doing another! It will be Sunday, March 30 at 11:30 to 2:00 in front of the Ventura County Government Center. Corner of Telephone and Victoria. Stop by after church or while running your Sunday morning errands. We have plenty of signs and flags.

Lots of stuff is going on! KHAY radio is finally working with us and The Star is becoming very responsive. We are developing a pool of military spouses and family members that want to talk to the media, we have a WWII vet that is busting his butt to get vet groups at our rally, and we have a number of private (not freepers yet!) individuals that are helping us. Way to go Ventura County!!!

I went to the rally last week and want to encourage everyone to attend this Sunday. It was so heart warming to see how many people joined the rally and how many people showed their support as they drove by. For anyone who is considering coming, last weeks occurred with no problems and I left there with a little more hope in my heart. I want our military to see people like us on the news, not the protesting that is going on.

Also, I encourage everyone to email KHAY to thank Charlie Parker for mentioning the Rallly...Cumulus Media,their parent company, has been very stedfast in not allowing even a mention of the rally. I'm guessing that the D.J.'s weren't made aware of our event, and once they heard about it they felt compelled to talk about it! Let's thank them for doing what they felt was right! (And what we KNOW is right!!!)

The CanyonDogs biker club will be joining us on Sunday. They all have great names like saltydog, bigdog, olddog, etc. Maybe we can do something like that - I'll be mangydog!

I just sent this e-mail to the reporter from the L.A. Times that is doing an article on us.


"I just have to spew a little bit. I noticed today that the front page of the California section had a big article on a family of “professional” protesters. I guess they have a huge budget and pay themselves a salary. I also heard from our local police department that the anti-war people will call them and say “we want some media publicity – will you please come and arrest us”. Additionally, I heard that the vast majority of the S.F. protesters weren’t even residents of S.F. – they were imported.


Will you please make a special note that our Pro-Troops/Pro-USA rally is unfunded, unsponsored, completely a private citizen rally and all participants have a direct tie to Ventura County? I think this is a very important distinction. We also don’t ask to be arrested, don’t disrupt traffic, and don’t leave a big mess.

I just got a call from a mother of a active duty sailor aboard the USS Shiloh. She is going to be interviewed by not one but 2 different reporters from the Star!!! She has gone as far as to PAY for an article about her son in the Star..(in yesterday's paper)...We have a GREAT group if military family members willing to be interviewed, and who ARE being interviewed. If anyone sees an article with mention of the Rally or what may seem like the person is affiliated with our event PLEASE post it!

Thank you SOOOOOO much! I am going to KHAY's web site & getting email addy's for all the dj's & I am going to email all of them our press release along with a personal "note" telling them that we have been trying to get the word to them for over 2 weeks now...That may help us out a bit with KHAY!

I just sent an e-mail to all the rally people to let them know about freerepublic.com. I figured they might be the type of people that would be interested in this kind of thing. I encouraged them to come visit our post.

They let me put up a flyer at Uncle Herbs Restaurant in Hueneme and Jeni and I faxed to Harley Davidson. Also, I'm going to stop by the fire station in Ventura on my home tonight! When the truck when by honking last Sunday everyonw went wild!

There will be another Pro-USA/Support the Troops rally this Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the corner of Victoria & Telephone in front of the Government Center from the hours of 11:30am-2pm.

Our first rally, held last weekend, was such a huge success that the general public was clamoring for another! So here we are! This is a completely grassroots, non-funded event. Every penny spent is from our pockets! We wish we had the money to take out a commercial spot to get our voices heard, but that is something that the average person just cannot do. This is why we are turning to you.

We are getting emails and calls from people that want to attend from every group of people you could imagine! At last weekends rally we had representation from W.W.II vets to small babies, bikers to suits, military spouses & parents, active duty military, and let's not forget the kids! This weekend's rally is looking like we will have even more people, also. This was/is definitely a family event. We do not block traffic, get violent, or use profanity! So therefore we haven't had much luck getting the attention of the media, who seems to be overwhelmed with video and live feeds of violent and disruptive anti-war protesters.

We just wanted to let you know that we have been trying to contact your station through Cyndy Ovalle, news editor/PSA Director for Cumulus Media. We have had no luck even getting our event listed on your Community Events Message Board.

This morning, at 6:30am, a friend of mine called me and told me that she heard Charlye mention the rally! This was a wonderful thing to hear! Thank you, Charlye!!!

All that we are asking is for media acknowledgment. We are not asking for sponsorship, money, or anything of that sort. We just want to get the word out about our event, and with KHAY doing all the different things to support the troops we were shocked to hear that your company would not help in this effort.

We appreciate any amount of publicity you can give to our event, and we would be thrilled if any of the DJ's would stop by and wave a flag!
