Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Did he really say "arrested?" LOL!!!

Texan is being sent state-side for physical therapy. New Yorker is going to Walter Reed to get shrapnel removed and further surgery. Montnanan also going to Walter Reed..."missing some large chunks of meat" from his foot and needs more surgery. (Ugh.)
Texan would rather be out in the field. New Yorker says he wants to be with his platoon, although he isn't eager to go back out there.

He thinks he got out easy, almost! In the interim, the press thinks this should be over because it's so darned inconvenient.

Sky cut away to interview humanitarian aid worker.
This rep is saying the military don't know how to this as well as the professional. The belligerents use it as propaganda.
He's now criticizing the way aid was delivered yesterday. It was totally inappropriate. The best people to distribute are the professional aid workers. The military should secure the area so that we can move in and provide the aid.
Gawd, he was hostile, angry. That's all I'm going to say this early in the morning.

Amazing!!

Fox is calling the "getting shot sucks" quote the Quote of the Day! LOL!
Chemical suits raise new alert A US general said yesterday the discovery of 3,000 chemical suits in a hospital in central Iraq that been used as an Iraqi base raised concern that President Saddam Hussein's regime was prepared to use chemical weapons.

Shoot!!! No close caption on FNC so far this AM. Anything interesting from the injured news conference? Nope, not until 7 am. Before the war started, it was captioned from 7 am til 11 pm. They did great 24/7 captioning until Tuesday night when they stopped their captioning at 11 pm. I've been emailing them like crazy. Please FReepers keep emailing Fox News about this. Email Rush too. He's sensitive to issues like this as well. Thanks!!

MSNBC is interviewing the wife of one of them (TV is in the other room). She's describing how she found out about her husband (Jamie) getting injured.

Did the reporter ask if they gave the prisoners the Miranda warning?OMG, what a truly idiotic question!
To: Miss Marple
It must be the quote of the day, it's been used twice at The Command Post already.

Like the aid workers can do anything better than our military. It's our food and aid - we'll distribute it any darned way we please.
Aid worker is probably upset he can't sell the stuff on the black market and is angling for control.

Only problem with this guys statement is that he ignores the facts! It was the Kuwaiti Red Crescent who ran that aid run. The coalition provided protection!
These imbeciles are so predictable. Yesterday on the local news (swiss) I heard some dweeb from the Red Cross saying that the Military can't provide the relief becaus they are not "neutral". Since when did neutrality have anything to do with handing out food? One last point: who pays for all of that food aid? The majority of the funds come from the good old US Government!
To: Carolina
If the reporters ran things, no one could be taken as a POW without their attorney present.
To: Carolina
Red Cross-Red Crescent or UN? I can see the UN being extremely snotty. But then, I can see the UN being extremely snotty about everything.
