Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Re protestors: Regardless of what the protestors say, we are following the president's orders. A lot of people are taking it out on the soldiers and we are so proud to serve our country. WOW

The Ssgt. is leg-whipping some idiot reporter (asking about his personal views of the war)--we support the President of the United States.

I hope we can find a transcript of this. The SSgt.'s answer was perfect.

His answer was perfect. These guys would shame even the hostile press we've seen so much of at formal press conferences.
Everything going as planned. There will be casualties - that's the nature of war. These guys are just spectacular.

If you all get a chance watch the replay of the Brit Air Marshal when he went Al-Jazeera today in a briefing. Lite them up for showing those dead Brit soldiers.
The Al-Jazeera reporter then raised his hand to ask a question.......but unstead read a statment defending AJ...very defensive.

Asked for assessment of how the war is going:
Texan: I think the British and Americans are doing a very good job.
New Yorker: According to chain of command we are on schedule, so I am going with that.

Getting shot at isn't so bad, but getting shot sucks!"You know, we talk about the military and their families making sacrifices, but this really brings it home. They are confronting mortal danger for the ideals of freedom.
These guys train, go through deprivation, and find strengths that I can only imagine. And here I sit in the comfort of my office.

Doesn't Sgt. Menard sound exactly like Dale on King of the Hill? He probably takes some grief for that.

They make me so proud. They're articulate and are handling these pinheads so very well.

What a refreshing change of pace, nice to see this on TV.

ABC = BBC = Al Jazeera BBC is and always has been horribly biased, but ABC seems to be on a crusade to match them.
I just posted a story about a BBC reporter that fired off a memo condemning the blatant anti-war bias at the BBC. Would that a few more reporters would do the same thing.

You're damn right AJ should be defensive. In fact, if Centcom wasn't in Doha, if I had any say, I'd kick their butts outta there so fast their heads would spin. They KNEW after showing OUR dead Marines that they were on very thin ice and they proceed to do it again with the Brits. Unforgiveable and disgusting.

Yesterday on CNN the wife of a POW during Gulf War I was interviewed. She said "I listen to the President; I listen to the Vice President; I listen to Colin Powell; I listen to Tommy Franks and Donald Rumsfeld. The rest of them I ignore". She was referring to the airmchair pundits and the hostile press.
I don't think it was a live interview and was surprised CNN didn't kick-can the interview - didn't fit with their agenda.

Clinton would have had our military arrest the bad guys rather than kill them. Media got spoiled for 8 years having a prez who supported their agenda.

Did the reporter ask if they gave the prisoners the Miranda warning? Sheesh, the collected vapidity in that room is unbelievable.
