Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"The training took over."
Q: Was the level of resistance more than you expected?
A: We had no problems with civilians. These were Iraqi soldiers dressed as civilians. It was shocking that they would do that. We tried to treat them fairly.
To: Carolina
These young men are going to get a Purple Heart, right?

I heard yesterday that some American reporter asked about "financial compensation" for civilian casualties. Sheesh!
To: Peach

Where is our financial compensation for our soldiers shot at by Iraqis in civilian clothing? The reporters are the news conferences yesterday and in previous day are a disgrace.

That was at the Centcom briefing. I don't think it was an American reporter--maybe BBC. I thought it was the most stupid question of the press conf--save the Chinese news asking about Elizabeth Cheney.

"Seeing a lot of resistance, they weren't rolling over like we thought they would."
Mr. Gravelly voice: We understand. Their families are threatened to fight against us."
Mr. Stoic: I wasn't surprised.
To: Peach
I sure hope so...wounded in battle usually get one...

Are y'all watching the news briefing with our the wounded. They're telling their stories with amazing details and little emotion. These guys are heroes.
These guys are so kewl, calm, and collected. Just think, we have some 200,000 more just like them out there. Heartwarming--makes one know Liberty is being well-safeguarded.
