***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 8 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 3/27/2003 | Me

Posted on 03/26/2003 9:04:14 PM PST by Centurion2000

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I'm confused. Should we be praying for clear weather or sandstorms?

The many benefits of humungous sandstorms

With lots of links too. (Did you know that as well as making any chem or bio weapons ineffective, it smothered a couple of oil well fires?)

They're describing the attacks. A staff sgt. is talking about getting hit with RPGs, being blown out of his truck.

I think ideally we of course would want the best weather as possible.

But in the long run, I am not so sure the sandstorms hampered us as much as some would have hoped they would.

Clear skies ahead for sure!!!!

His gunner said he saw civilians near the bridge acting jumpy, then they were attacked. He's describing how his leg was hit & his boot was blown open.

Q: Since this is your first combat how does this compare to your image?

A: No way to compare. You're not really prepared. You just take it on as it goes.

They are so stoic.

You got that right! At their age I was still wondering if my head was attached to my neck 'cause often times I'm sure I left it at home. :-)
