Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I know that noone said it would be easy. But let´s just accept that tactics have to change and that we have to forget SnA now. Right?

Some guy said Rummy said the war would last "6 days".Bull. If he had, Peter Jennings would be crowing from the rooftops right about now.

Thanks. I was born at Seward AFB, Smyrna TN in 1956 (now a commercial airport). Thanks to the USAF I got to see a lot of this country, and learned to appreciate what the armed services do on a daily basis to secure it.

Sure a lot of traffic today/tonight. Sale at Wal Mart?

What a visual - one for the history books - Bush and Blair - flags - strength - determination - honor.

I don't know who. I'm not THAT old. Just one or two more questions tho'.
Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but not to their crotch when they ask where the toilet is?
Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Blair looks better today I think. Still thinner than before though. At least he doesn't look as ghastly as he did for a while

Sorry, my mistake.

It will be difficult to take Baghdad without razing it. But who can give me any hints that S&A was a success? After dropping thousands of bombs, the Iraqi military should have been in a state of shock, unable to strike back. Instead, they´re happy & alive, trying to kill as many soldiers as possible. Now it´s going to become a real war. The nice, quick war
We don't want to "take" Baghdad. We want to rid it of military thugs who operate the gang previously operated by Saddam Hussein.
As to your sense of satisfaction with the display of SnA, your perception of it does not matter. That is, you are free to perceive it as you wish, and I won't try to change your perception. The goal is remove the regime in such a way that the Iraqis have a chance at setting up a (more) honest government.
The Iraqi military is happy and alive? That's a laugh. They are scared, probably 70% alive. Nobody in their right mind thought we'd put on a three day show of ordnance and suddenly the regime would capitulate.

How about we make Koffi answer for all the civilian deaths in Iraq under the failed containment program. The guy is useless. What is depressing is that apparently we never have any leaders - at least since Reagan - who will publicly repudiate all this bs from Coffee Can and his ilk; our leaders seem totally unwilling to to get into a public fight with this trash, along with people like Chirac, Blix, etc.

The media are viewing it even more through soda straws than we are because they have a vested viewpoint, and can't bear to look through all the straws that are available --- only certain ones.
