Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Hmm... Did Drudge get hacked? When I first went to your link, all I got was a screen selling anti-war pins. Then I got the Chris Rock article when I reloaded.

Thanks. My Memory is not as good as I would like it. Interesting that it happened during the air war portion.

Makes a lot of sense Chris. I hope waiting doesn't increase our vulnerability. Or decrease momentum, but I don't think it will.
At minimum though, we can expect MAJOR WHINING and even tantrums from the press and I believe the RATS will start joining in too because of delays. Their attention span is too short. So we will need to be ready with plenty of barf bags and a ton of patience and perserverance should your theory prove true.

On the subject of supply, I heard on WCBS radio this morning that the forward units were down to 2 meals ped day and no water is to be used for bathing. Anyone heard anything similar?

Anyone know what time Bush and Blair are supposed to speak?

The GC (like every other law) has gray areas. Unfortunately I can't see anything being done anytime soon to fix the problems with it. Mostly because of intervention from outside the Anglosphere.

Now they have embedded journalists and said today at CENTCOM briefing "what is the value of staying here for briefings". That just shows how that the news organizations really don't know what to do with the information sources. They've got guys in the field for small-scale, on-the-spot observations. They've got access the CENTCOM to get a big-picture look at the war.
If they were responsible, they'd have their reporters at CENTCOM trying to actually learn stuff, and give us a good picture of the war. Instead, they persist in their usual attempts to trip up the generals.
This is a great demonstration of how the news media are, by and large, stupid, arrogant, and have an agenda. As you said: their actions are as obvious as those of the UN, and they're irrelevant because of it.

Sorry to disagree. First of all....how in the hell would ANYBODY know how Baghdad residents feel as they are rocking and rolling 24 hours a day? Ever had even a 500 lb bomb dropped in your vicinity? I have, and trust me, it ain't fun! Then add to that the fact that they are not allowed to "didi-mow". (Get out fast!)
Greetings from an American of 'Kraut' ancestry.

First off, "S&A" has yet to be tried.
Secondly, we've taken out BUNCHES of military targets in Baghdad without leveling most of that city.
Thirdly, we now control (for practical purposes) 66% of the land area of Iraq (albeit that much of that is sand.)
Fourthly, we have troops in the North, troops in the West, and troops in the South, all converging on Baghdad.
More troops are within 5 days of hitting the front lines.
So far, so good.
In about 6 months, we can ALL sing: "Freude, Schoene, gotterfunken, tochter aus Elysium..."

Michael
both the US and the European press has been doing this all along.
No one has ever said this would be short or easy, except for the infamous "unnamed sources".
Within 7 days, the coalition has pushed through several hundred miles with minimal resistance.
In 1991, we bombed Iraq for a long period of time before the offensive even started!
It is again the PRESS which claims the Iraqi military is less effective, not the Pentagon!
The PRESS says that the Iraqi's are not shocked, but the PRESS is not free to report in Iraq - each and every one of them has a "minder".
Mass Surrenders and desertions (4000 in 7 days is a lot considering the lack of engagement!).
The US Media ALWAYS attacks the strategy - do you not recall the EXACT same type of reporting before and during the Afghan Conflict??

It's a little easier to form an opinion of Clark when you know he easily speaks from BOTH sides of the mouth. I thought he was speaking from another part of his body....
