They never do seem to pan out and show it in its entirety, do they? I had thought nothing of it until now...

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but don't you think that the sealift neede for an entire MEF might have been noticed unloading in Haifa and the vehicles rollloing across northern Israel to Jordan?
My own purely amateur slant is to connect some Marine movement with the 173rd taking an airfield near Mosul. Airlifting two MEUs from the Med, say Cyprus to Mosul would be doable. As they come with their own air in cobras and harriers two MEUs combined with the paras and spec ops could form a formidable striking force from the north, and could be deployed with some sped.

I also remember seeing the other day a report about some Marine General running around in nothern Iraq meeting with the Kurds.....

They don't need to roll across Isreal, they could and probably did unload in the gulf of Aqaba and rolled right through Jordan. This area, by the way, is nothing but the driest of sand and small rocks with almost no population all the way to Baghdad.
This could also explain why we haven't seen even a single Scud shot towards Isreal, the Marines took them out !

As I recall, the refueling station (gas station), halfway between Bghdad and the border, was taken out in the second day....deliberatly to cut off traffic from Baghdad. At the time, I wondered about a target so remote from the rest of the bombing. Maybe this explains it.

Where did you hear of the gas stations being bombed? They were bombed out back when the air strikes first started ..

2MEF BUMP! I hope what I think is about to happen will. I won't discuss my theory openly EVER until after TSHTF, but if what I think is about to happen, happens, you will see lots of dead Republican Guard troops in about two weeks. With the 4th ID and II MEF, you will see a devastating blow which will end the war. I said before this started, right after it started, and maintain, this is a 4-6 week war. We went in light with "promises" from Iraqi generals they would surrender. They did not. Now they can pay the price.

....This report is crap....
Perhaps, but there is something happening from Jordan and there is absolute silence from western Iraq and there are no air raid sireins in Tel Aviv.
It is a straight shot due east from ar rutbahh to baghdad....

"I won't discuss my theory openly EVER until after TSHTF..."Only two things could happen by talking about this:
1. The Iraqi surrender rate goes through the roof.
2. They try to reposition their troops and they are obliterated with air power.
The first thing that the english speaking POWs during GWI would ask is if we were Marines. My 28 man CAAT team took over 600, and I heard this dozens of times. I asked one about it and he said that Saddam had told them that we would cook and eat them if they surrendered to US Marines. For this and a few other obvious reasons, the Iraqis are especially terrified of the USMC.
We should all put the inter-service crap aside for now, I was only pointing out how US forces are looked upon by our enemies to increase tactical understanding. This is Psy-ops, OH Sh$t, the second Marines, to them is a bigger shock than 4th Mech, whether or not it is more of a threat.

LOL, TOUCHE! I actually think they will move Northeast. But that's my theory. You don't move in a direction the enemy expects. If we have the II MEF 40 miles Northwest of Baghdad, the 4th ID to the Southeast, the other MEF's to the east, airborne to the north and those 3ID grunts to the South and Southwest, the Republican Guard would be cut to pieces. AND hopefully reduce the effectiveness or use of WMD's near civilian areas. I'm with you, let them think we'll eat them.

I heard early on that Special Ops had blown bridges in the west on roads coming from Jordan. That didn't make sense at the time, but this could be the reason.
