For brave soldiers like this, they're over there for the right reasons....for GWB, Cheney and the Halliburton gang it still is and always will be about oil. Then why would they do *this*?
Iraqi Oil Money Slated to Pay for Relief Humanitarian Costs of War and Rebuilding ASSOCIATED PRESS| 19 March, 2003
UNITED NATIONS - The United States and Britain are drafting a plan to use Iraqi oil proceeds in a $40 billion U.N.-controlled account to pay for humanitarian relief during a war, The Associated Press has learned.
**snip**
***Washington and London would not get direct access to the vast Iraqi cash reserves*** in the U.N. escrow account. Instead, control would temporarily be turned over to Annan, who would prioritize Iraq's humanitarian needs and buy the needed supplies.

It's about how can the Iraqi people share in the benefits of liberty and capitalism and ownership of their resources. Only in that way is this about oil for our president and his admin.

Thank you for this beautiful picture.
I'm from Suffolk County and am very proud of PFC Joseph DeWitt and ALL our troops.
May God bless them all, and keep them safe.

Yes, its about oil...
Oil profits being used to arm Iraq with WMD and to support terrorist organizations in Palestine.
Removing Saddam. letting Iraq use the profits in a more productive way is best for the entire world...
Do you think we shouldnt go to war because companies may profit from rebuilding? Is contracts more evil than Saddam and general terror?

Tell that to the Democrats and few Rinos in the Senate. When liberals cry "It's just about oil", they prove once again that they are the Party of Hypocrisy since they, in fact, are the ones who are largely responsible for placing peaceful utilization of our own natural resources off-limits. IMHO, that does not absolve, however, those "free" trade and open borders RINOs who have acted complicitly to increase our global entanglements. Their policies only serve to degrade our national security and increase the frequency of engagement in foreign conflict.
To: rep-always
Sorry but I disagree. They're engaging in a conflict without Congressional declaration or UN approval, spending my tax dollars and creating a situation that could draw many young men like my son into a ME hornet's nest so damn right I'm going to judge what they're motives are for myself...and I won't let Ari, Rove and the rest of the talking heads tell me how I should be interpreting events as they unfold.
To: american spirit
Right on, right on. Weapons of Mass Destruction? We gave 'em to him. Supports terrorists? I'm thinkin' the Saudis are more culpable there, but those Saudis are our pals at all costs. Regime change? No, it doesn't matter now if Saddam is dead or alive, it's about liberation. Liberate the country? Sure, those Arabs just love campers in "their" desert, invade and they'll love us. Liberate 'em the way we helped those in Afgahnistan. Sure....
No, this action is to distract us from Jr's complete ineptness at governing anyone other than the wealthy and elite. It puts cash into Cheney's pocket, and gives Rummy business for decades.
Bless and keep our troops safe, and get them home right away with the job done right.

Bump for later -
It'll never see a Pulitzer, but it should. He'll likely never get a medal for it, but he should. God bless you, PFC DeWitt and Godspeed.

Congress approved of invoking the war powers act, UN approval, although not needed was done with Res. 1441. Yes, it's all about you. Yes, we're all dupes who let Ari, Rove and Bush determine what we think. Gimme a break.
If it was about personal profits of Bush and Cheney we wouldn't be there. We'd take the same route Clinton did. We're there because it's the right thing to do.
Don't be such a self-involved whiner.

BWAAA HAAAA HAAAA HAAAA...
If this were about "wanting Iraq's oil", we would have given Saadumb everything he wanted years ago, and he would have sold it to us for a nickle a gallon. You know that too, even if you are college educated, you simply have a challenge with intellectual honesty.

If you believe you're a dupe that's fine by me. As far as my alleged "whining" I happen to care too much about my son and his future to worry about what you think. Most of the 9-11 hijackers were Saudi's yet there's been no retribution against SA, N. Korea has threatened us to a far greater extent that Iraq, Russia has thanked us for all aid over the last decade by supplying weaponry to the Iraqi's but I'm sure all they'll get is a "strongly worded protest" which I'm sure will generate quite a few laughs, our borders remain open for any # of terrorists and illegals yet TPTB have no problem shaking down gray-haired old folks in airports....do you even see through those Rep. party blinders that there may be just a hint of hypocrisy in at least some of the fedgov's actions?

Sorry friend, I think this discussion is on a level you're not qualified to participate in.
