IMPERIALIST AMERICA
As someone has written, America has become the New Jewish State when it comes to fending off irrational hatred and other shades of madness against our nation. The others throw us tomatoes but in the face, day after day, night after night?
Jealousy can be a strong emotion, of course.
Part of the madness is the accusation that the USA is imperialistic, particularly in the sense of wanting to gobble up land land land.
But what land? When the land? To what degree the land?
Yet in some mock-up intelligentsia circles of snootiness, it is quite fashionable at present to label America as empire building. The anti-American English there are a few, of course can be craftily snobbish on that frequency.
Naturally with this Iraqi thing going on these spring days, empire building imperialistic America can manage to come to the fore quite easily, like slipping off the tongue when wanting to play intellectual without being too deep about it.
Therefore, it is not really surprising to note that when in England at a fairly expansive conference, US Secretary of State Colin Powell was queried by the eccentric Archbishop of Canterbury. The latter asked if Americas plans for Iraq were simply another illustration of empire building by President George W. Bush.
The astute Mr. Powell, his brain cells exceptionally sharpened these weeks with managing one slithery sentence after another from one slithery individual after another, replied: Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.
All of a sudden, the room became quite quiet and for once the Archbishop had nothing to say.
Would to God that Powell could have an audience right early with the Pope.

It sure is. The son of the lady that cuts my hair has just gotten to the place in his career where he was assigned to the F-16. He wanted the F-15.
Guys, a question: yes or no. The F-16 is one person, the F-15 2 person? (I know, I could go look it up, but I'm trying to catch up.)

I think it's really time for the silent majority to let their voices be heard. Here, we are doing that now and it feels great! God bless the young man for fighting the good fight.
