Some of the dead U.S. soldiers paraded Sunday on Iraqi TV had likely been executed in front of townspeople after being captured, it was reported today. The soldiers, part of an Army maintenance unit that got cut off from fellow troops after taking a wrong turn in Nassiriya, were among seven killed and five taken prisoner and shown on Iraqi TV.
The New York Times, citing unnamed military officials, said a communications intercept indicated some of the seven dead soldiers may have been executed.
The tape, recorded by Iraqi TV and aired on the Arab satellite channel Al Jazeera, showed at least four dead soldiers, some who appeared to have been shot in the forehead.
"When the full story comes out, people will be outraged," a senior military official told the paper.

Re #1
Marines there are already outraged. They are now shooting anything that moves. If Iraqis tried to spook American troops, it backfired.

The one positive aspect to this awful report is that we may be able to locate eyewitnesses to testify at the war crimes trial of the perpetrators of this outrage.

This article is stating 7 dead soldiers. That would include Jessica Lynch and Lori Piestewa. I think they are still categorized as MIA.

All, concerning the two missing female soldiers:
I suspect if they survived the initial ambush and were taken prisoner, most likely they are undergoing the most perverse and deranged of sexual assaults, and will later (if not already) end up dead in a ditch. Although you never know how you will react in those situations, I try to impress on my soldiers, especially female soldiers, that surrendering WILL lead to sexual depredations. This type of behaviour is incredibly common in the Mid East, and everywhere women have low status. From my personal studies of the area, homosexual rape, although not nearly as common, can be expected.
While we can pray for their safe return, let us not delude ourselves about what has most likely happened to those female soldiers. Quite simply, this is the measure of the type of barbarians that we have engaged in combat.

Jim Miklewsheski (sp) on Imus just now said that our troops were SURRENDERING with their hands up and that's when they were shot and EXECUTED!!! What a piece of Garafola Mick is!! My guess is that Jim just got some bogus info from some brass.

Don't ya know that the info from the media now is that they didn't rape that female soldier 12 years ago...they just try to fondle her once!!! ...and so they probably wouldn't rape these girls.....this coming from our media...our UN-Inbedded media...I HATE THEM.

What I would like to see done to the Iraqis would violate posting guidelines. But there is no law against hoping that they reap the whirlwind for these murders.

CENTCOM ROE may not have formally changed, but I gaurantee you it's informally changed at the grunt level. Any Iraqi that is holding a weapon or even makes a threatening move will be put down hard, and rightfully so..

This is just like when the German SS massicared(sp) the POWs at Malmady. Very few SS soilders were taken alive from then on.
