Hi Jen, thanks for the ping. It's been ages since we've been online at the same time!
It has recently come to my attention that Elks lodges are sponsoring a program that will match volunteers with families of deployed servicemembers for assistance with errands, handyman work around the house, lawn mowing, etc... I believe it is a nationwide effort. If you contact your local Elks lodge, they may be able to help you.
Also, most bases have a Family Service Center either on base or at a convenient location. These centers provide lots of services, again including volunteer help and child care as well as classes and social events for military families.
The thing is, alot of us are pretty strong and independent (kind of comes with the territory) and we won't ask for help. If you know of an active or reserve family left behind, speak up! If you wait to be asked, it probably won't happen.
Very helpful and timely thread......GG

GG, gosh it's great to hear from you! I think about you and your hubby who is serving now, all the time. Blessings to you both for your sacrifices.
Thanks for the info on the Elks. I didn't know about that program. There are so many ways for people to do something to support our troops, and I'm glad the word is getting out.
Hugs to you and your precious kids!!
