From the Murky News
Petition to recall Gov. Davis passes hurdle
SACRAMENTO (AP) - The effort to unseat Gov. Gray Davis passed a procedural hurdle Tuesday as the secretary of state said recall proponents could begin collecting signatures to qualify it for the ballot.
The recall's sponsor, Ted Costa, must collect signatures from 897,158 registered voters, which is 12 percent of the 7.5 million votes cast for governor in November's election.
While some Republican leaders have denounced the recall effort, Davis faces a $34.6 billion budget deficit and a flagging approval rating.
A Los Angeles Times poll earlier this month found that only 27 percent of those interviewed approved of the job he was doing. The poll also found that despite his lack of popularity, 51 percent opposed a special election to unseat him.
RECALL Davi$, Liberate Iraq and neuter the UN! What a year! Let's make it 3 for 3!

RWGuy: You *cannot* send them back electronically. They must be prined out and then filled out. You can photocopy the blank version you print out - but it must be a CLEAN legible photocopy (otherwise the Secretary of State will likely reject the signatures you gather).
As soon as you have ANY petitions ready to send in mail them to:
Recall Gray Davis Committee
P.O. Box 1445
Sacramento, CA 95814
This is the official address of the Recall Gray Davis Committee. We will process and bundle your petitions. We want to collect a group of signatures VERY QUICKLY so that we can do a press conference with out first bundle of petitions.
Time is of the essence so get to work - get your friends, co-workers, neighbors and family members to collect signatures.
Then mail them in ASAP to the address above!
To: w1andsodidwe
We're asking people to mail them in to the Recall Gray Davis Committee office where we have a processing team that will handle all incoming petitions. The reason for this is that if any petitions are not filled out correctly they will be rejected. Our team of experts will critique each petition and for any that have any information missing we will flag them and send them back with an explanation as to what needs to be done to make the petition valid.
The address to mail petitions to be processed to - VERY IMPORTANT - is:
Recall Gray Davis Committee
P.O. Box 1445
Sacramento, CA 95814

Recall him FOR SURE!....
But NOT so quickly that REPUBLICANS get blamed for the pain
and suffering that both CA taxpayers
and CA loafers (living off the taxpayers)
must eventually suffer!
Let Gray sleep in the bed he created for a little while
before burning the bed, with him in it.

... (otherwise the Secretary of State will likely reject the signatures you gather). Was listening to shortwave Monday in the background. (Probably WBCQ 7415kHz) The show was blasting the SoS on waiting 9.5
days to reject the original petition submission.
Given the tone of the piece, I'm surprised the SoS didn't wait until the last minute to pull some other stunt as a favor to Davis.

Thanks, the address is now on my PDA

Email went out this morning with the link I got last night from this group.
15 minutes later, I have 3 positive replies from my list. They are printing up the petitions to carry with them and are copying my email to their lists.
My last two Dump Davis stickers are still on my garbage toters and are outside on the curb for the garbage pickup today. They went out early yesterday afternoon and will stay up until tomorrow.
