That is exactly the result that we should seek in post-war Iraq. "Loose federalism" means a very high degree of independence for local governance for each of these groups, WITHIN THE AREAS WHERE THEY ARE DOMINANT, but without any ability to overwhelm the others in their areas.
That sounds like a great idea! Maybe we should try that here in the U.S...

Would you go so far to say that this has HUGH implications?

Agreed. I think it is important for the Iraqi people to start feeling a sense of power again. They have to rise up and take their freedom and all of the responsibilities that come with it.

Maybe we should try that here in the U.S... I'm afraid that will take more blood than in Iraq. :(

have you sung the lamentations of Jeremiah, especially chapter one verses 10 through 14? They were sung in MAssachusetts this past week, "Refreshment Sunday," in the jargon of the appropriate religious denomination. Talks of a storm from the North.
Did anybody realize that there is a new moon scheduled to arise on one april 2003? Do you think we will be there to witness the rising of the new moon? After all, Freepers are so diligent in their reference to the phases of the moon. I find it surprising that I find no reference to the existence of sand and dust. Of course, Adam was made of the earth -- or should I say ashes to ashes and dust to dust. I don't believe the depictions of the graves that I see..I only trust monuments, for they are everlasting, until dust

Don't know. That's all MSNBC said (reading from report). DIA reports civil disturbances in western Basra against both Saddam and coalition forces. Saddam's men are firing martars into western Basra. Very confusing right now. DIA calls it "chaos".

Watch..you'll soon see the Iraqi troops and secret police fleeing to the Brit troops to protect them from the Shiites..We should allow this massacre to happen, as far as I am concerned. It will be extremely difficult for Coalition forces to be able to separate the good guys from the bad guys here, I say we let the local populace do it for us.
