Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror
KEYWORDS: bellygirl; iraq; iraqifreedom; live; war

Well said, I come here for discussion of the war and sometimes others views to help me understand. It's hard wading thru all the lite & airy posts, I agree, please keep to topic! Maybe a good enhancement of the posting process would allow for a 'post category'. It could be a radio button or pulldown list, with such things as 'off-topic', 'humor', 'ping', 'bump', 'image-intensive', and the like. That would then allow the user to filter a given thread to exclude one or more categories. The default entry would be 'on-topic post'.
Maybe it's overkill, but it might help cut down on the complaint/justification cycle that bogs down threads every now and then.

Shep did such a good job tonight that I was already off the computer lying on the couch watching his program and got back up after what he had to say to come on here. I am impressed with his no nonsense approach and questions!

Heard someone say tonight that the TV broadcasts are coming from a day care center and it is going to take special ops to take them out. They knew this going into this, they know how devious Saddam is, I'm sure they factored in all his tricks, they will just adjust for each one as they encounter them. I heard the same thing tonite & realized that if the news & ourselves can see this, surely the military leadership have already adjusted for all of this. They did say that those who were pretending to be surrendering & then opened fire, that they would do it ONLY ONCE. So that was very telling.

How are they going to get there? Walk? Carrying a tank round in one arm and gas can in the other?

Its not immpossible, but about as likely as dropping a nuke. You just aren't going to supply and Armored unit larger than a platoon by airdrop. Its just logistically stupid.

How long will it take to ship the 4th's tanks and heavu equipment to the ME?
They don't fly everything over, do they? That'd take an unGodly amount of C5's and C101, right?

Duh....they have their own supply support.
"Divisions" aren't all fighting soldiers and machines...they include the support services.
Geez, do you know anything about the military?
