Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Yeah! Thumper has ba**s! Two big brass ones!
CNN had a quick blurb about finding chem-weapon antidotes on Iraqi troops. Anyone catch that or have more info?

"I have video, but no sound on MSNBC cam."I just logged back on after about an hour being logged off. It does seem really quiet. Every once in awhile it seems like I hear a faint pop way in the background.
Did you hear the dog barking an hour or so ago? In all the time I have been listening this is the first time I heard a dog bark. It even got my dogs attention.

It will be over by then. Must be for the Iranian front...maybe Korea. They say that those Apache pilots were from the 1st Cav. I found that interesting; maybe elements are already deployed.

Did you hear Neil Cavuto say re. the Def. Dept. briefing today that he thought the critical presstitutes were right for criticizing the military plans? When did Neil become a military expert? I saw this (just catching up reading) and I am positive Cavuto said he thought Rumsfeld and Myers seemed exasperated with the press, and that *he didn't blame them*. Basically the point was the press was asking stupid questions.
Sorry if someone else already made note of this.

They were carrying atropine, I believe.

CNN just showed footage of an F-16 taking out a tank. Picturing in my mind Apaches, A-10s, F-15Es, F-16s, etc, going into a high threat environment to take out a couple of armored vehicles.
Gotta be a better (more efficient/faster) way of taking out enemy armour...
Wasn't there an artillery shell being developed a dacade or so ago to do that? Copperhead???
What would be GREAT would be something like the predator carrying hellfires, but automonmous; fire it into the bad-lands and forget about it. Salvo them into concentrations...
Or am I looking for high tech gadgets when a few reliable ol' buffs do quite nicely thankyou?
To: Ophiucus
Heard them say atropine was with the chem. suits.

By the way, Greg Kelley spent 9 years in the Marines, most of them as a Harrier driver.

Probably true. Check out this link (at the bottom of the page, under OPERATIONAL NOTES) to see the performance of the M1A1 against the T-72. We had zero tank crew deaths in GW1. The only chance a Republican Guard tank crew has of surviving is to abandon their tank.

Isn't Walter Rodgers embedded with the 3-7th cavalary? If so, we should have some awesome after action reports come sun up.
