Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

Just back on a minute ago - this news is making me physically ill. How horrifying. So they do have American uniforms then - heads up.

Geraldo likes it when it blows his hair around.
I noticed that he got a haircut. There are a few reporterettes that seem to be chewing on their hair when reporting in that wind.

I agree with you. Except every now and then I think I hear someone moving in the room.
I have yet to hear a boom in Bagdad. But the lights in the hotel seemed to have gone out or something (not outside though).

The storm almost looks like part of the strategy. It came at a time when the troops need the rest for the next push and a chance for us to pick up more intelligence before the big drive.
I've believed for a couple days the Storm was part of the plan. They knew it was coming last week before they started the push. I think the original plan was to be where they are now Friday. Arriving just after the storm and the RG would be digging out. The strike on the bunker made them push the ground assault early. They will more than likely use it to take care of some stuff theyve been ignoring for the last 5 days. They may even try to use it as cover, it wouldnt be the best condition to do it in but the wind could offset a lot of the WMD.

Fox is getting a dispatch....from Al-Nasiriya....Marines...capture 170 troops in a hospital with 300 chem suits and a tank in the hospital...More circumstantial evidence against IRAQ regarding WMD.

I haven't seen the roll call so I don't know how they voted. I think we probably have a better chance of electing Republicans in currently democrat seats than unseating the RINOs.

in this weather, with the visibility so limited, I pray that we Americans do not mistake the Faydeen (sp) in our uniforms for the good guys.

I have no idea, it's been a constant sound since I sat down. I just heard what sounded like puppies yapping too.

No, it disperses them. You want a temperature inversion actually so it hugs the ground. Maybe if you pump enough out the wind doesnt matter or it could actually help, but they say you want it to cling to the ground so the victims can't escape.

"...a tank in the hospital... They implication is that it is filled with chemical warfare agent?

That makes sense. I was probably only half paying attention when they were reporting on that. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
