Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

"I just don't think that we, with our normal minds, can fathom what's coming."
I totally agree, and it scares me silly.

The sandstorm is not all that bad for out troops. Chance to get a few hours of sleep, get refueled, do maintenance and regroup.
Yes. That's good. It is probably bothering the vain reporters more because it blows their hair all around.

Imagine what they've got inside the mosques... the thing about Iraqis and Al Queda is that they have zero morality. They will use every last human shield they can get, as death (even complete spiritual death, which is their "religious" path) is their best friend.

And I don't think that it's a picnic in Bagdad.

Right: Add nine hours to your (Central) time to get the Iraq time zone.
(Or you could pass out in a coma and get Saddamn's personal time zone......)
To: Catspaw
It's not just the smallpox. It's the VX and all the rest of Saddam's bio/chem weapons. Hopefully the gas masks they're issued will work against all of those agents. I would imagine once we get to that point, however, it will be the beginning of the end for Saddam's troops and his regime.
To: Centurion2000
Did you mean that they used gas!!??
To: Carney Asada
which one are you watching?

I'd also suspect that a high-wind sandstorm would make most chemical weapons totally useless.
The chemicals would disperse in record time.
