Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

They will be ruthless to Saddam's minions too. Hanging them from everything imaginable, lamp posts, etc. Payback time.

I think listening to the Basra fight will give us an idea what is going to occur in Baghdad.

They will be sovereign until Turkey occupies Kurdistan.
Powell doesn't like the smell of things in Turkey.

I wonder how much help the Shiites have had with their uprising.....this should be GOOD.
Heavy artillery is from the Brits is being fired into Basra, targeted at the Iraqis shooting mortars at their own people. This is coming from military intel. Popular uprising. This has been going on for about 45 minutes--Beeb.

Democrats hate the idea because it gives the authority (money) to the people. Loss of control in a dems mind.

>>What do you think are the odds that the Kurds will break off to become sovereign?<<
Despite the foolish assurances of our government, all the Sevres states need to be dissolved and new arrangements made, from Mosul to Sana and from Baghdad to Mecca.
As part of our strategy, I would have sold out the Kurds in a heartbeat to get those Turkish bases.
Now, I don't care, but if independent Kurdistan is in our interest (all of it, including Eastern Turkey and Northwest Iran), then it's fine with me.

As a New Yorker let me tell you that there is not alot of pressure on Hillary to bring home the bacon. Everyone is absolutley PO'd a Bloomberg, he is turning out to be the worst Mayor of the last 50 year. He has raised the cost of living here by 20% in only a year and a half. Even the liberals (at least those that have some income) are starting to see the relationships between taxes, services and daily expenses. We will not see any of this money in our daily lives; it will go down the sinkhole of the Dem political machine (all of bloomberg's people are Dems - this is a RINO adminstration if there ever was one) If Hillary thinks that we are out here rooting for her on this she very much has an extrodinarily tin ear for state politics. I think her future may be in jeapordy in the state. She may have to try to steal the next election. I do not think that she can count on the City again. Gulianni or Pataki would win hands down today. She rarely make a pulbic speech in the City and the it's usually MLK day in some rally or before the cities many civil servant unions. The senate may serve her ambitions but she is not viewed as serving the state's interest.

We'll do our best to keep you Fox informed. No pics of the uprising right now, I'd LOVE to see it, but if there is a Sky reporter there, and there is, we'll get them eventually.
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
Major Bob on Fox says uprising is good news. This is exactly what we hoped for. Indicates intelligence was accurate. Maybe they were waiting to see that we were serious.
