Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

I like the embeds so far. These press briefing attendees are shameless fools--whether inate or by intent. (I go with intent, too)

Yep, thats it, it's kinda hard to cheer the end of Saddam when there's a bunch of Saddam loyalists in your town ready to kill anyone who doesn't think the right thing. We believe a lot of these fanatics have been sent into the regular forces, thus preventing a lot of the really massive surrenders we were expecting.
If we take out these loyalists, the whole thing will crumble.

To your point in the long post #1510 - last night I read an old issue of TIME - Feb 17 - essay on Iraq that really gave a big picture of the "theater" of the Middle East. I just spent a while trying to see if I could give a link, but too old.
Much bigger issue than oil and just Iraq - it's a Mideast thing and the dangers of where that entire bed of non-democracy is going.
Anyway - it supports much of what you are saying. It was suprisingly supportive of what we are doing.

They're trucking in water... Count on this: It won't be Evian

Finally, there are some ignorant-ass questions being asked in this presser.
Which is why we are so saddened.

Q: Kofi has expressed concern for Basra. Question now about Shi'ites not willing to fight because of hostilities with Sunnis.
Renuart: Humanitarian crisis due to Iraq military. Most pressing is water which has begun to flow. Will begin trucking into Basra.

It's like they are searching for ANYTHING bad and reporting it or slanting it.
I swear to you, I'd take the word of ANY person on this thread before I'd listen to another word they say about anything for the rest of my life.
To: gop212
I am deeply saddened by our sadness.
