Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

What is with this lady talking about? "Everyday we see women and children dying because of your strikes..." It's the memo from Hillary, doncha know.

I tell you this, what little "feeling" I had about the media is in the tank after this last week; either they are the most ignorant people on the face of the earth (we know more than they do), or they are blatantly lying.
I pick Door Number 2.
I can barely watch anymore.

There's 2 worth noting - CNN's
RealPlayer feed and MSNBC's
Windows Media feed (that link is to the main feeds page). Right now, they both show the same camera, with CNN's being about 45 seconds ahead of MSNBC's.
A word of note; CNN's feed requires a robust broadband connection, while MSNBC's will work with dialup.

Q: Any intelligence failures? Underestimating the enemy?
Renuart: Talking about fedayeen. Our intent (regarding Basra) is not to siege city but to remove forces. I lost my hair, I lost my memory, repeat your question. (hahaha). Our intelligence has been accurate.

Dolphins are great creatures. Very clever.

I can barely watch anymore. The more they talk the stupider they look. I'm sure we aren't the only ones who are disgusted with them.

Oil fires effect both sides. WIND direction becomes all important for the guys on the ground. The Iraqi troops may wind up eating the black smoke.
Anyone know the wind direction??

Woman from CTV news says you were going to fight this on your terms, INSTEAD (she says) you are being drawn in. How (she huffs) is this on your terms.
Answer: I wouldn't say we are being drawn in. We've undertstood from the beginning there would be forces to try to keep us from our plan. Not the innocent, but the soldiers.

Will do. The ME reporter wants to know how we will fight in Basrah. The answer is that the regime has cut off water causing a humanitarian concern, the Red Cross has been able to restore some water.
Focus in Basrah is to restore security, root out pockets in city. Another ME reporter asks if we are suffering from any kind of intelligence failure. Answer is our strategy is to gain control, some military targets, but intent is not to siege the city. No intelligence failure.
Now a female reporter claiming we are being drawn in the fight and implies it is not on our terms. Answer, we are not being drawn into fights not on our terms. We do not believe that is the feeling of people in cities. They are being held hostage.

What is evident to me about this particular briefing is that the press continues to badger, continues to belittle, etc. HOWEVER, this group that is leading our troops has done a remarkable job, not only in planning and executing the plan, but also in responding to these nitwits. They stay on message, they're consistent in what they say.

A couple of comments..:
First, Good morning to all.
Second, Belly Girl is all that is woman.
Finally, there are some ignorant-ass questions being asked in this presser.
