Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

The MSNBC BaghdadCam (which is showing the same feed as the CNN BaghdadCam is roughly 45 seconds behind the CNN feed. The only advantage of MSNBC is that it's not broadband-only.

I'm not watching briefing -- but please watch for the greasy-haired ME type who asked Tommy Franks yesterday if he had lied. That was the second time this guy had asked a very nasty belligerent question. I suspect he's an Iraqi.

Thank you for the link. From what I've read the Iraqi people are hearing the message and believing it. I remember that when I hear anxiety from some parts of those who would have us commence indiscriminate carpet-bombing.
Question: Everyday we see Iraqi women and children injured and destroyed.
Answer: We all need to remember that warfare even in its most precise fashion has errors. Some percentage of weapons will err from their target. That is the reason for the message to Iraqis to STAY HOME.

Burning the oil trenches more a hazard to ordinary civilians than an impediment to our efforts.
To: SoldiersGirl
Q (Newsweek): What are your plans to secure the oilfields? In Baghdad.
A: I don't think there are any oilfields in Baghdad.
To: Elkiejg
Oil fires are more a hazard to those who must live around them.

What is with this lady talking about? "Everyday we see women and children dying because of your strikes..."
The Red Cross said only 1 civilian has died and wasn't she on the Syrian bus?

Q (Tom Fenton):Campaign designed to collapse, now you're in 6th day what do you have to say about that.
Renuart: Our design was to be rapid. But not to topple in 2 days. Couldn't catch the rest.
To: cyncooper
Can you tell us of your plans to defend the oil fields? Wait until we send those plans to the Iraqis....
To: Elkiejg
