Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

I read about the Dad from Massachusetts(?) who's gone missing. His son is quite mad.

Just read through the Goldsborough Opinon Piece from the San Diego Union Tribune
Protesting once the fighting starts previosly linked.
It starts out rather predictably - Tiny Tom is a patriot, blah blah. Then attacks Bush for the Franco-Prussian blockade at the UN. Finally, it does raise a few point regarding the duties of the Congress by comparing the [lack of] debate in Congress to the debates in the British Parlament.
I would rate it a C minus. If not for the nausea at the beginning, some people might actually read the better stuff at the end.
Oh yeah, forgot - no mention that the Democratic Senate voted with 2/3 majority (including Tiny Tom) to support the war!!

Agreed. Mort is moderate, if anything. Definately not a liberal.

I think they should use the PETA members to look for mines instead of the dolphins ;)

Nope. Barnes was the picture of unalloyed optimism until this week. Kondrake took him to task over it last night.
Barnes is a middle-roader who masquerades as a conservative. He will shoot any real conservative who speaks up against the Party Line--viz. his assassination of Buchanan during the first primary against GHWB (1988.)
Barnes is not an independent thinker. He is a mouthpiece. Bear that in mind...

Vince:
We're beginning to see trenches dug outside of Baghdad, filled with oil and ignited.
Unfortunately this shows the regime is willing to destroy Iraq's resources to save themselves.
Ongoing efforts to mine the North Arabian waters clandestinely by the bad guys.
Yesterday a boat which was really a mine-layer was discovered-----and destroyed.
Now displaying leaflets dropped warning not to use WMD.

Sky must have a different vantage point than the CNN BaghdadCam; no sign of bombing there.

Will a Bradley motor fit inside the passenger compartment of the Bradley? Don't know Pappy, but I doubt it! Those comparments are usually pretty tight with equipment and ammo . . .

Kondracke is not to be confused with mean-spirited liberals like Judy Woodruff True. Heard last night, much better that Juan Williams who got hosed down by a glance from Brit Hume when he babbled about how its going to take months etc.

Precisely why the UN is NOT the vehicle for after-combat humanitarian aid. It should be the USA.

I've heard about this book. Did you like it?
To: glock rocks; mwl1
I agree, Kondracke can be reasonable and he clearly loved his wife very much. I do not dislike him as he is open to rational discourse.
Lookout, press asking questions.

We got a bit lucky with the oil fields; they were wired and were supposed to blow, but didn't.
Press follies now.
