NBC News ran a background story about Jose Guiterrez, killed U.S. Marine. He came to the country illegally from Guatemala in a freight train. Lived in a foster home, became a U.S. Marine and died in the last few days in Iraq. Brokow follows up with: "Think about that before you rail against illegal immigrants again!"

If the guy was a convicted rapist or some other form of criminal would you respond with: "and think about that before you rail against rapists again!" Or check forgers, or car thieves.

The guy was a criminal, just because he got killed in combat doesn't justify his criminal actions.

I don't know how this fellow died but as far as I'm concerned he was wearing our uniform so he is a cut above. But his death does not then make all illegals a cut above.

Based on the news reader's logic then all US service people that are Muslim are about to start killing other US service people that are not Muslim?

Outside of the fact that they may be great warriors, I have to wonder why someone here illegally is accepted into the armed forces period, something just doesn't seem right.

The owner of a small Florida flight school is suing the Immigration and Naturalization Service on the grounds that, following the 9/11 attacks, the INS has been targeting his Moslem students ("They knew right to the second when [their visas would expire]"), to the point where the school now has only one full-time student. He claims that their selective enforcement against Moslems (when, in fact, many non-Moslem students manage to remain in this country illegally) amounts to racial profiling, and he's planning to ask for $1.5 in damages.

BS. Off the top of my head I can name 17 friends/associates who are or were at one point illegal immigrants. Except for 3 moms and their children, all are working, all have or will work there way through the process and become American citizens. No, they are not all Republicans(yet) and only a few have become fairly wealthy. But they are hardworking, love this country, family oriented, and are a net plus. Are all illegal immigrants like them? Of course not, but my friends are far more representative than the freeloaders so many here portray as the norm.

I think it's where you live and what you see first hand. In places along the border and many parts of California, you see much more of the freeloader types, where welfare rates are over 50% and food stamp/WIC usage is extremely high. Here very few illegals seem to bother with buying their own medical insurance so the rate of insured patients is 32% and falling. It seems that so many figure they don't need to pay insurance premiums because free health care is a right.
