NBC News ran a background story about Jose Guiterrez, killed U.S. Marine. He came to the country illegally from Guatemala in a freight train. Lived in a foster home, became a U.S. Marine and died in the last few days in Iraq. Brokow follows up with: "Think about that before you rail against illegal immigrants again!"

You need to have the legal right to work in the US to join the Marines, although it is not necessary to be a US citizen to join (many are surprised to hear this, but its been that way from the start and is true for many other countries).

I have nothing but admiration for Jose, the Marine. I'm proud he died for his country. I am not, however, able to explain Brokow.

I think any illegal who has joined the service and is willing to fight for this country does deserve citizenship but how many have even registered for the draft which is an obligation they have. Just deport all those on welfare, all those committing felony document fraud, all those who haven't registered with Selective Service and obeyed some other laws. Let guys like this stay.

I might have said something like that when I was in the 7th grade. Maybe they think that is the brainpower of the American public. Word.
