French fear U.S. reprisals over Iraq
As well they should.....

I'm with you on the Spanish wines! Being from Wisconsin, and a real lover of good breads and cheeses, I can assure you that Wisconsin produces neither. In order to get decent breads into this state, they came in with Atlanta Bread Company and Panerra.
The locals of Wisconsin feast on fried (orange) cheese, Kwik Trip white bread, and Bud Light.
And has anyone ever seen orange milk? Then why would anyone think cheese should be orange?
Wine in Wisconsin must be cherry flavored and brandy based. They simply do not know what wine is!

I have no love lost for the French, but I am worried about the reprisals to French interestes in the U.S.
I work for a company that employs over 100,000 people in the United States, but it is owned by a French company. Some of my fellow employees are concerned about a backlash against the company here in the U.S. We've already heard of some reports of this. We also have some government contracts that we're worried we could be in jeapordy of loosing.
Things would have to get really, really bad, but we've already suffered some due to the economic downturn of the past couple of years.
Maybe it's time to make sure the resume is up to date.

Please clean up your tagline, and watch your language, thanks.

"After all, its hard to pass up a good bottle of wine, and a good cheese."Not for this family!
I think the French are denying the effects of the boycott. They're trying to break down our resolve by saying "See, your silly boycott does not work, we fart in your general direction". They hope we get discouraged and forget about their treachery.
But I think the boycott is working. And they're very worried.

I hope it isn't Thompsen/RCA. I'm working hard to keep everyone I know from buying any RCA products. And that's a big slice of the market and many many products bought by middle-class Americans. TV's, VCR's, DVD players, etc. The Japanese and Korean stuff is just as good or better and they support us.

I found Torres Corona, from the Pendes region of spain in the early 80's. I drank it exclusively until it was found to be a good wine and got too expensive.
Bully Hill, Oh Be Joyful Red, is a fantastic table wine produced by the grandson of Walter Taylor. It is supposed to be a copy of the same wine that Washington rationed to his troops in the revolutionary war.
It has become my new wine of choice. A good, hearty, dry red wine. Made right here in USA.

"If U.S. trade does drop, Dairien predicted, it would have little to do with anti-French sentiments."
Nothing like being in utter denial.
They're dead to me too. My daughter and I were going to a wedding outside of Paris in June. Psssst... Hey Dairien, I'm not going now.

Shrug.
The French don't make Stilton (The King of Cheeses) so I don't care. Other than camembert and brie, I am totally unaware and unimpressed with whatever other kinds France may try to make.

O.K. Someone help me out here. I only use Blue Cheese Dressing (Marie's) and eat salad 5 times a week. I am down to my last bottle. Does anyone make a Blue Cheese dressing with cheese that ain't French? I can't stand the tought of having to switch to Ranch, but will if I have to.

France will soon fall to the Algerians, there will be no more wine and we will no longer hear the syphilitic babblings of Chirac and his lot.
The best way to end war and ensure peace is to kill the enemy.

I was talking someone who would no more boycott France than she would march on Washington, but she said that she would prefer to vacation in the US because people in other places don't seem to like us much anymore...
Combine the three groups of people who are boycotting France, think the French will be hostile, or are afraid to travel, and I think there will be plenty of parking in Paris this summer.

Re:"After all, its hard to pass up a good bottle of wine, and a good cheese."
True at first glance, but then I look at the photos of the US youngsters paraded on Al Jezeera with the bodies of others, some probably executed after they were captured.
Then I consider that these young men and women are there on my behalf.
If my enjoyment of trivial luxuries such as "snob appeal" cheese and wine, or the purchase of movie tickets or DVD's enriching the likes of Martin Sheen and Susan Saranden, or the CD's of the Ditzy Chicks enriches those whose encouragement helped assure the Butcher of Bagdad of the continued support of "The International Community" ......
How can our "sacrifices" of these petty luxuries compare with the sacrifices being made on our behalf at this very moment?
When Saddam goes out of business and is replaced by a pro-freedom regime the world of nations will be a better place.
When the "Global Governance" ethic of the UN is driven from the stage of history the future of freedom will be much more secure.
When you get right down to it, despicable as they are, I would much rather have Michael Moore and Rob Reiner controlling the entertainment industry than to have Jacques Chirac and Kofi Annan controlling the world.
