Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

First - a helicopter goes against every rule of powered flight .. so any problem almost always results in Gravity taking over.
Second - rotating parts and Sand do not get along very well, and choppers tend to kick up a whole lot of sand landing and taking off.

I have a friend whose son almost went to Cornell. She is SO GLAD he opted for Purdue instead!

...the trick is to lick the fluff off the spoon slowly, not all in one bite. Over the last week it's become almost an art form. Please, someone put up belly girl again!

Is Texas the silicone/saline state? ;-)
Well, it wasn't during my generation. I always heard just enough to fill a champange glass was plenty. But I guess now they have gone to 10 gallon drums.

Oh, yeah....
the King. Got any of those squinty-eyed pics? You know the ones. (^;
Married, I know, just want him on my team - baseball, debate, spring cleaning...whatever.
Our troops are taking out the Republican Guard tonight. Expect wailing and gnashing of teeth from the left tomorrow. Tough.

Choppers are very complex machines, and very unstable in flight. Many more life limited parts (limited by time in service) as compared to fixed wing aircraft. With the auto-stabilizer turned off, the chopper pilot's workload is HUGE.
Plus they fly very low, vulnerable to ground fire, and ground induced turbulence.
Helocopters seem to always be trying to come apart all on their own.

Greta...playing clip of Hans Blixt.
I couldn't hear the audio, but I think he said:
"Hey everyone look at how useless I was in all of this."

Series and Hugh came about because we have no spell checker resident on FR. The posters were typing quickly and the rest is history.

First compliment on my Freep name, *tears*....I mean *roar!*
Thanks.

greta has some neat intros into her commercials. they show our armed forces gear and them getting ready
i love that fnc is so patriotic...it seems like they are the only one
and sky news is a sister station so they must be owned by the same group but they have a definite liberal bent
these duct tape commercials from united methodist are kind of neat..I can't tell if they are anti war or just want peace soon, though
