Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events; War on Terror

Im Catholic, and actually, our Bishop here in Orlando is catching some flak for going against the pope and supporting the war, wrote an editorial in the local paper saying that he believes this does qualify as a just war under Catholic doctrine

Your donations paid for that ad, which was signed "The United Methodist Church." Not SOME members, or SOME pastors.
Well, I think it is tacky, but if it doesn't bother you, that's ok by me.

Can anyone add to this summary ? Sorry I haven't read the whole thread, but what are the thoughts on why there is no news? Is it just the weather? The dust storm might allow our guys to get some sleep.
The only thing I have heard today is the pilots and the two bridges.
It feels like the intermission during an old war movie.

I'm 6200+ and the same thing happened to me. Had to reregister after I forgot the original PW. It was super low as I'd been here almost from first months.

Today here? Or Bagdad? If today here, we should see massive B-52 strikes on the outskirts of B-dad beforehand, don't you think?

She's a legend. Years from now someone will mention belly girl on a thread and sure enough her image will get posted by one of her many admirers.

What these people actually do is project the strategems, imagined strategems and rationalizations that allow them to get through their "lifes" on this wild and wooly world we all live in. In the end they are argry with a world that defeats their notions - I will not say "abstractions" for what pings around inside their brain pans is not that rarified - and blame the world for this defeat rather than face their loopy conceits. Pouting, they draw towards the precipice of an awarenes that the world is other than what we wish it to be but then quickly draw back and clutch at any lie that will keep the real world at bay. In the end these sorts end up living a life that has but one lesson: How to bribe your jailer for and extra ladle of gruell.

awesome...like I said - I don't lump everyone in religion together - I think there are liberals and conservatives in each. My bf is Catholic too and is absolutely for this war 100% (and he's Canadian...how's that for enlightened!!)

Well, the B-52's have been taking off in shifts all darn day. I forgot to mention that.
So, I think things are happening but we can't see them...like the reporters in the field going silent since early this morning.

I remember hearing that most of the 51st Division that did not surrender just slinked away. So either, they are just Iraqis glad not to have to serve or Iraqis regathering. But, I haven't heard any news that they are reforming. I also saw on another thread from a very nebulous source (think it was arab or french) that the General who surrendered wasn't really the actual commander of the 51st but instead a subordinate. I don't really think that is so because it probably would have been covered by the dreadful CNN.

Beeb discussion about how to pay for the war. Troops, tanks, artillery. How to pay for it?
To: Semper911
Some guy on Chrissy Matthews show about 10 minutes ago speculating that US won't want to fight in streets of Baghdad and that will give Saddam time to have Russia, France et al intercede with UN to get him out of Iraq to a safe haven. CM says Mautitania.

"Real time" news reports may now become a problem and so I do not think we will be getting reports as they are unfolding.
They simply have to hold on to their stories until actions are concluded.
