Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Along with the human shield on Fox was Arnaud de Borchgrave who wrote the article.
He says he thinks Saddam is alive. But he's basing it on these recently released videos, so I would not base Saddam's health on his opinion.

Rev Ken Joseph and another man on FNC talking about how Joseph is now a believer. He went to Iraq against the war but spoke to the people and now understands they "don't want peace".
To: The Wizard
Didn't have CNN itself on; just using their online Baghdad-cam.

To: cyncooper
It's distressing to hear the House of Commons talk about the need for the UN during reconstruction. Caroline Spelman blabbering about refugees, humanitarian aid, and every other disaster she can imagine.
To: cyncooper
I just heard him. If he's the head of UPI, no wonder they're always wrong. Talk about gloom and doom.
To: cyncooper
My tagline quote is from the article quoting him.
I love your tagline!

Kofi Annan made a statement a bit earlier that the mandate for inspections continues...and when the hostilities cease, he expects the Inspectors to go back in and continue their work.
I seriously think this man is stupid.

As far as I'm concerned, they can come in when WE are done!

As long as the 10-year Bond return is less than 5%, Dow is a decent vehicle for investment---chosen well, of course. The test will arrive when foreign money moves out of bonds and yanks yield to 6-7%.
To: steveegg
Tdys pull back in the Dow is a reaction to the war slowing down and the heavy spin put out about problems.
It is so far a healthy reaction to the huge gains of 14 %, so far tdy it's only down 3 %. The war is making for a thin mkt where every move is exagerated, but overall the mkts are saying the war will be ok.
I guess they will oscillate for a few days and then run again.
To: Lauratealeaf
Oh. Okay. Fox News has that former anti-war, now pro-war Reverend on speaking about how the Iraqi people shocked him by saying they wanted war.
From most interviews I've seen the last few months---
Those opposed to the war seem to have no direct interest or involvement in the day-to-day Iraq.
Those favoring war have direct interest or involvement [such as, they are Iraqi in exile, have relatives in Iraq, etc.].
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
Thank you! I've been teased by adolescent FR boys (I'm taking names!, heh), but singing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" w/ my Dad...it's my America. Back to the war. (^;
That's so cool!
