NEW YORK (AP) A day after an anti-war march down Broadway attracted more than 100,000 people, hundreds of New Yorkers gathered in Times Square and on Staten Island on Sunday to show support for the U.S.-led campaign in Iraq.
About 600 people waved American flags and chanted ''U-S-A! ''U-S-A!'' at the Times Square demonstration, which was organized by conservative groups including the Christian Coalition and Young Americans for Freedom.

This rally was covered on CNN a short while ago. The demonstrators were described as "angry" and "vociferous" while the video showed a peacefull (almost placid) crowd. The text on the screen identified Free Republic as a "sponsor" of the rally.

600??? Nah. I would estimate at least 1500.
Had a great time at the rally. A lot of wonderful Americans.

AP and Reuters are both greatly understating the numbers. Even the Star-Ledger said we were 1300.

I clearly stated in my opening remarks that it was a Free Republic rally, and that the first co-sponsor to join us in our national Rally for America weekend was Young Americans for Freedom. I then read a list of most of the other sponsors. When I got to listing groups who were there with us, I mentioned Christian Coalition. So how they got out of that that Christian Coalition sponsored the rally is totally beyond me.

I was there, too, and am wondering if they bothered to include all those folks jammed up under the canopy along the sidewalk? When I first saw them there, I thought they were just bystanders watching the action, but then realized most had flags and signs, also.
The rally was wonderful and thanks to all who organized it :-)
