Iraqi troops used "ruses" to kill U.S. troops -U.S.

AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar, March 23 (Reuters) - The United States said on Sunday that Iraqi troops were using "ruses" to kill U.S. troops invading their country, on one occasion dressing as civilians to ambush them.

"There were several incidents reported today in which there were types of behaviour that I can only describe as ruses that were perpetrated by the enemy," Lt.Gen. John Abizaid told a news briefing at Central Command headquarters outside Qatar.

He said that in one incident an apparent surrender was followed by artillery fire.

"In another incident there were troops dressed in civilian clothes that appeared to welcome the forces and then ambush them," he said. "So there are a number of incidents occurring to the rear of the main combat forces."

Posting that link is about the most rat bastard thing I've seen here yet.

I am an active duty SF soldier. My Team is deployed. My wife logs on here. If my wife, family, and friends saw those pictures before a Casualty Notification Officer had done his job I would hope that my team brothers would smack you down. Think I'm pissed? Ezekial 25:17

Like I said, I didn't post it first. But I'm very skeptical about your being active SF duty. First you wouldn't have time to be screwing around here. Second, you would want the American public to see this. Third, MOST of us who have been there done that have seen worst. Since about 80 people posted this link before I did, you're full of it. And I don't believe you.

I hope that we've officially served notice to Al Jazeera that no further pictures of American dead will be tolerated. They should know by now that we have the ability to enforce that demand.

If they were dressed in civilian clothes then they could, at least in theory, be classed as spies and shot.

I thought that rule only applied to personnel behind enemy lines.

First off mister "used to be" I'm going BACK over this week. I'm here for a larger purpose than you'll ever know. I give a damn what you believe or if you posted them first-irrelevent!

Showing pics of soldiers faces is wrong as two boys kissing and YOU KNOW IT.

I've seen worse myself BUT NOT IN A PUBLIC FORUM!

You have completely missing the point! IT IS WRONG TO POST OR LINK THESE PICTURES UNTIL THE NOK HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.

I've seen plenty of pictures of dead Iraqi soldiers. Is it OK to show them?

Didn't say we were losing - but I'm not alone in saying this is going much tougher than expected in the last 24 hours or so. We were led to believe only the top brass of Iraq were satisfied with the regime, and all the innocent civilians were just waiting for salvation. Well, they're fighting back and show no signs of looking for liberation. I know we will win, all I'm saying is stop caring so much about sparing so many of their lives at the expense of ours.
There's no doubt the PR and PC aspects of this war is costing the lives of American soldiers. I have no doubt we will prevail with our vastly superior might, but it will be far messier because we chose the "nice guy" route.
And this is going to scare N. Korea, Iran, etc.? We've lost the initial shock and awe of the other night.
This "nice guy" route is part of the high standard the American military imposes on itself, and we won't lower it. Personally I could care less what Iran, NK, etc. think about it. If they are smart, they should be very scared. However, if they want to hold to any illusions that the American military somehow shows weakness through this approach, so much the worse for them. As you said, our vastly superior might will prevail, and the fact that we can do so and leave the country's infrastructure and civilian population virtually completely intact is a testament to the professionalism of our armed forces and something that should be praised, not questioned, as some well-meaning folks on here are doing.

I think we question the fact as to why so many of our brave soldiers must die just to prove we don't want to kill Iraqis. With our superior power, we could prevent having some of the dirty battles we've been drawn into - at least this early in the campaign.

We were led to believe only the top brass of Iraq were satisfied with the regime, and all the innocent civilians were just waiting for salvation.

How many refugees headed to Jordan compared with 1991 events? How many people are in the top brass? How can the surviving top brass motivate the surviving soldiers? (i.e., think treat of execution)

You are expressing impatient thoughts. We should apply only as much force as necessary. Many of the Iraq people are innocent victims.

I emphatically DISAGREE with your assertion that "this is going much tougher than expected in the last 24 hours or so." Our military planners have a range of expected resistance, and the resistance so far is well within that range.

Iraqi's using the white flag to get our guys close enough to get a good kill ratio is reason to start shooting them when they come out with a white flag.

Do this, <>, then put the 'I' in between...then to end the italics, put <>, with '/I' in between.

That's how you show off quotes on this system.

But if you do, you have to use html on the whole post, in other words, put <> with 'P" in between in between your paragraphs.
