Special Force Operatives from CIA vidoetaped Saddam and his leaders entering the bunker.
Got positive ID from Langley that Saddam, his sons and most of the Military inner circle was there.
Stealth bombers dropped two 2,000 lb. bombs on the bunker chimney while special ops identified the target with lasers immediately to position 30 Tomahawk missiles on the complex.
No one could have survived the attack not even in a safe. Video was taken of Saddam with a gas mask over his face dug out of the complex. Everyone killed inside Saddams sons and all top generals.
Deputy Iraq Prime Minister Tarik Aziz holds emergency meeting the next day making frantic cell phone calls to remaining Saddam/Baath Party leaderhip officials. Minutes later they show up wanting to know what has happened.
Langley triangulates the desperate cell phone calls from Ambassador Aziz and sends 20 Cruise Missiles through the roof. Baath Party political Leadship terminated.
CIA is leaving electricity and telephone lines up for as long as there is surveillance advantage to be gained tapping their sources electronically.
Only two Iraqi top Military/Political officials known to have survived- Public Relations Spokesperson for the Defence Department and Minister of Defence Lt. General Sultan Hashem Ahmed.
The Iraqis have not dug out the rest of the bodies yet except for Saddams

You're right - because the people are only afraid of Saddam, not these other guys. The only way they can maintain control over the people is to tell them Saddam is still alive.
I believe Aljazera (sp??) is helping - maybe they've been bribed or whatever - but they keep putting Saddam on TV to make the people believe he's still in control.
If the people ever find out he's dead - there will be blood in the street - I'm convinced of that - and I think the remaining Iraq military and/or govt know that for certain.

I doubt they put it down his cell sige cimney, on the exact moment, but the call probably did reveal where he was, and when the hot shots would all be together. Gota love it, if true. Sounds like urban banter though.

How long did it take for the West to know Stalin was dead after he died?

Youre correct, they were waiting a few minutes before they could pinpoint Aziz's location.

Kewl new slogan!!

Well, not more... "Oh eee oh, oh oh. Oh eee oh, oh oh. Oh eee oh, oh oh... The wicked witch is dead. (maybe...)
Next time you watch the Wizard of Oz, listen to this line closer. The palace guards are actually saying "Oh we loathe the old one."
Kinda fits with this story, too.

Is the legend on the Stalin poster in Ukrainian or in Byelorussian? It isn't in Russian (which lacks the letter which looks like our letter I).
It is Ukrainian. Translation: "Thank you [communist] party; thank you [our] dear Stalin for [our] happy and cheerful childhood". I doubt there was any language in the Soviet Union that did not have a similar poster.
I am amazed that so many former Soviets / Russians refuse to acknowledge the obvious similarity and continue to oppose the action against Saddam. Fooled once ..., fooled twice ...

Spasibo. FReepers are an amazing resource.
It is particularly gruesome for Ukrainians to be urged to thank Stalin.

I'd never noticed the resemblance of Saddam and Stalin until now, but it is quite spooky. And they both had a little problem with killing their own citizens...<--Nice guys if you can just get past the killing their own people part ; )
