Foxnews checks all sides.

I was watching Foxnews early this morning. They were using a Sky News reporter who was traveling with US Soldiers. This was during the firefight this morning at Umm Kasar.
What started out as a report in the middle of a firefight turned into a running commentary by the Sky News reporter against the war.
Fox kept the pictures the reporter was showing, but turned the volume down and recognized the commentary by the reporter. Bob Sellers said laughingly....
"Yeah...oh ok..what started out as a report has turned into a reporter running commentary and shooting his mouth off"
Then they turned things over to the Military Analyist who agreed that reporters shouldn't be running commentary. Rather they should be reporting what they see.
I saw this level of bias from Sky News during Tommy Franks press conference the other day as well. The reporter stood up and asked Tommy Franks.
"If you really want the Iraqi people on your side, why are you bombing Baghdad so hard and scaring them with this Blitzkrieg??"
Bob Sellers used to be on the Weekend mornings but they moved him to a more serious role doing Foxnews Live. Now that the war has started he does the mornings again sometimes.
Right after Sellers moved to nights they hired this guy named Julian Phillips who is very liberal. The whole weekend morning crew got so liberal I couldn't stand it.

The guy on Fox I can't stand is Mike Jerrick. What a complete a**. I do think FNC is much more balanced than the other news outlets.

I watched this on Fox until almost 2 am this morning. Like you, I turned off the sound because the Brit reporter was spouting off about things he didn't understand.
So much for these "embedded" reporters...garbage.

I saw this level of bias from Sky News I saw it too and I agree. On FOX they were talking about how the embedded reporter was young and didn't know much. Whereas on the other hand, he brought up Oliver North and all of his war credentials.
The generals running commentary were very upset about the fact that the Brits were in charge of our Marines and that there seemed to be a lot of playing to the cameras.

Silly me.I always thought reporters reported, editors editorialized, and columnists analyzed.

Speaking of Fox news, when was the last time they updated their website? Three days ago?

My opinion only -- If the reporters continue to do this -- they need to be warned once, and then canned.

I don't like Mike Jerrick either. Fox needs to get new weekend people.

So far, I think, the use of embedded reporting - even in this case - is a coup. I watched this jerk on Fox late last night. It's astounding that you can get video of an engagement, a reporter on the scene shooting off his mouth, and corrective commentary by retired military all in REAL TIME. This is AMAZING stuff, and hopefully it really puts a crimp on the ability of reporters to slant the news toward their political agenda.

Sounds like "Are you still beating your wife?"

Fox also needs to learn something about military unit hierarchy and rank structure. The last straw for me came a few minutes ago when I hear Eric Shawn refer to the maintenance detatchment that is missing as a "maintenance division". I wanted to throw a brick through the screen!
I also wanted to hurl this morning when they had a retired Sergeant Major on for commentary, and Sellers first referred to him as "Sergeant", then several times as "Major". You'd think that since they have so many retired officers on their payroll, they'd be able to learn something about the military, but I guess that's too much to ask from a bunch of civilian reporters.
Oh man! Shawn just called the missing detatchment a "division" again. I really hate the media sometimes.

Bob Sellers is a good anchor. I don't hold it against him.

The other sky news reporter Ramsey was busy protecting the muslim and his cohorts who tried to assassinate the Brigade Commander of the 101 and his CP
Ramsey who was no where near the scene was corrected by Shep Smith of Fox News and told Ramsey that Fox was told by the military to believe the Embeds over anyone else ...which Smith reminded Ramsey that is what they were gonna do...
Yet today its Ramseys spin on the story that is sticking and not what the two reporter eye witnesses to the events one fox reporter and Lacy a Time Magazine reporter..

I heard the Sky News reporter call him a "Muslim-American".
Whats next? Gay-Americans as a nationality? Stupid-Americans? When will it end?
To: ConservativeMan55
I said the same thing to a friend this morning. Can I call myself a Christian American? We don't classify American's on their religion; it's bad enough we have to do it on ethnicity.

The Florida St Petersberg Times (a liberal rag) criticized Fox yesterday because Shepherd Smith calls our soldiers "us" and the Iraqi army "the enemy". They said that shows a lack of impartiality.
If that doesn't say what is wrong with the press, I don't know what does.
Note to St Petersberg Times - The Iraqi army IS the enemy and the American soldiers ARE us. Doesn't the truth count for anything anymore?

I do. It's a war, for crying out loud. They are reporters. They need to learn something about the military they're talking about. To not report accurately the ranks, unit designations, etc., of the military which is currently at the center of the world stage, is yet another example of the attitude of the mainstream news media, including FNC, toward the military. They love to mouth platitudes about our forces, but when the time comes to really show their respect, to accurately report on them, they won't even take the time to learn something about them. As a veteran, that just really chaps my backside.
Yes, Bob Sellers is ordinarily a good anchor, but he's not a good war anchor. Mike Jerrett, Julian Whateverhisnameis, and LA dingbat Juliette Huddy are just atrocious. Eric Shawn is also usually a good anchor, but he continues to refer to the "captured" soldiers as part of a "maintenance division", even though Major Garrett at the Pentagon is doing his best to correct him by referring to it as a "maintenance company". Shepard Smith is as least trying to get ranks and unit designations right, but he's one of the few at FNC who's trying. As reporters go, Greg Kelly and Rick Leventhal are doing the best job so far, because they obviously have respect for the guys they're riding along with.
I don't now how the other networks are doing, because those liberals never darken my screen.

The St. Pete Slimes is also the enemy. I cancelled my subscription a few months ago because I just couldn't take their commie leanings anymore.

I don't think it was the embedded reporter who was saying most of the stupid things, it was the anchor at the studio. I could be wrong because I was half asleep and they were talking in "British"

Boy, I agree - that Julian Phillips looked almost happy at reporting 4 of our soldiers had been killed (it later turned out they were only injured). But the expression on his face really shocked me. The morning gal shushed him up right away - but it was just his demeaner which I objected to. I caught a few minutes of them again this morning, and I just couldn't take it.
