Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

CNN couldn't stay with that story...no clearance for further report until later tonight. I usually hate them too, but fair's fair.

Aren't there elements of the 82nd in both Afghanistan and Iraq? Or am I confused?

They said last night that the majority of the 101st had already pulled out and that those still in Kuwait were supply and support troops.

There is a brigade of the 82nd in theater. Just WHERE in theater is something for the Iraqi's to worry about...

Yes. They're in both places.

You know how we are hearing everyone wail about them withdrawing back into Baghdad? I've heard absolutely NO discussion of possible plans to cut off their retreat. I can't foresee any forcible -GROUND-BASED- way to cut off retreat into the city, short of being between them and the city. But think Shock and Awe. Air bombardment between them and the city (B-52 hanging out), ground forces on the other side. We can sustain air attack for an extended period. All we need is enough room between their units and the city.

I've gotta go take a shower. Don't invade Bagdad til I get back; okay?
To: Mo1
I heard it while listening to talk radio ABC news station. The news guys were talking about him and one seemed to know an awful lot about him.

I think think most of the reporters may now realize that not only are they privileged to be with and protected by our guys, they're a hell of a lot safer than free lancers.
Like I tell my children:
Think about it, And "Be Wise".
