Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Once that supply line starts providing food and medicine from the south and (maybe) west, the pressure inside Baghdad will intensify. The leadership, what's left of it, will evaporate. I give it a week.
To: Cboldt
You know how we are hearing everyone wail about them withdrawing back into Baghdad? I've heard absolutely NO discussion of possible plans to cut off their retreat. I've been trying to 'noodle out' the answer. Any ideas? Anyone?

President Bush said today that the aid should start moving in the next two or three days and he said there would be a lot of it.

The last bald eagle I saw (maybe a month ago) was on the side of the road, eating a road kill deer, with some buzzards.
It was still beautiful.

Heard something on the radio today that I didn't know. You know the Lt. General that gave the Centcom briefing today? He is going to be in charge of Baghdad (compared sort of like a mayor position) when we get there while helping them put their government in place. He attended school in Jordan on some sort of military scholarship and speaks fluent Arabic. He was described as being a quickly rising star within the military and highly trusted right hand of Gen. Franks.

Once they start to move, they become the property of the A-10's. I bet we have Linebacker-type sorties overhead too.

I watched the video and I have a couple of things to say about it.
First, these pukes put this type of thing on their local teevee like it's normal. These same people do not appear to have any respect for human life. This is just one reason we should not show graphic videos like this all over our media 24/7. Adults should have access to see it for the sake of truth, but I believe we could easily lose our outrage and sensitivity if we were exposed to it 24/7.
Secondly, the families of those dead soldiers should never, ever have to see this, therefore it should be somthing that would be difficult to see by accident.
Third, every one of those POW's were brave and they make me proud to be an American.

There was an article about this general on FR maybe a month ago. Very impressive.

well, CNN just broke in with an embedded reporter that says a Republican Guard division has just been engaged. Instead of staying with that story, they moved quickly to the people defacing Rumsfelds house. I give up.

Rally For the Troops on CNN right now.
To: section9
Very possible. Lots of units we hear almost NOTHING about. Remember in the 101st 'fragging' story, it was stated that they were finally pulling out?

CNN just reported on a major Apache helicoptor engagement with the elite "Medina" Republican Guard. An embed reporter said the battle is underway and that's all. No location, no duration, nothing. Aaron said they can't say anything until they get clearance later tonight.
