Well, this evening, she sounded better than Henry Kissinger did. But, she can go monotone and that gets to me sometimes. And, Linda Vester, when she's really into a story, she does a thing with her eyebrows.

Although Bush did kick her off the press pool on Air Force One for being sassy. LOL

Hadn't heard this. She's a Goron lapdog and so obviously blatant about it. Can't handle her voice either. It just irritates my ears.

just a few hours after the deadline for him to leave expires, he and the two sons, plus his top general and 2 VPs, go to have a meeting at 5AM in a bunker not deep enough to survive a bombing? even though he has other bunker structures that could have survived? it sounds like the hit on Sonny in the Godfather, at the toll plaza. what would have caused him to go there with those people at that moment? and he had obviously had these plans much earlier in the day, since Tenet got the tip hours before the strike. the person who tipped us was very close to them. where is Tariq Aziz anyway, hiding out at the Vatican embassy?

we will never find his body (unless they whack one of the doubles), I guarantee it.

"I just hope when we get to Badhdad that they knock down that stupid phallic symbol mosque. That thing is really getting on my nerves."

LOL! I thought I was the only one who wanted to do a 'bobbit' on it!

Interesting. I didn't know that Fox was not available in Canada.

I even have heard it is illegal to receive Fox by satellite. (I am not sure how this technically is possible perhaps Mare has more information about that)

I don't know about Canadian copyright law, but in general there are many types of duplication that are technically possible, even easy, but of course are illegal. In the U.S., under the DMCA, it could well also be illegal to decrypt an encrypted TV transmission without specific authorization, even if the so-called "encryption" was minimal and obvious (on the order of difficulty of Pig Latin, let's say).

Caveats: I am not a lawyer, Canadian law may well be different anyway, and it seems clear that the law in this area is in flux right now.

Is it actually illegal to receive Fox on a satellite dish? Or would it just be the satellite owner who would be infringing on intellectual property rights if it intended to transmit unlicensed content to Canada?

[I know this is off-topic on this thread, but intellectual property law is quite interesting.]

Nothing is unreal in Canada.
Canadians are the world's most obedient people
and never question what their masters tell them.
If the government can tell them
what brands of wine they are allowed to drink
(liquor outlets are government controlled in most provinces)
why shouldn't it tell them
what TV channels they are permitted to watch?

I wouldn't assume this business about the "tip" is for real. I suspect we've had a complete lock on Saddam's whereabouts for some time. I also wouldn't taken it for granted that the missile strike is connected with Saddam's disappearance. Could be, but that's not necessarily so. Might be a distraction from something else.

Having set our minds on it, killing or even snatching Saddam Hussein should not be an impossible task, especially if we get to pick the time we do it. But Saddam must have put in place some credible mechanism to deter a decapitation strike, otherwise those WMD which he has fought so hard to acquire and maintain undermine his personal security, rather than bolster it. So, the problem is not: how do we kill or snatch Saddam Hussein? but: how do we kill or snatch Saddam Hussein without triggering a retaliation? One way of doing that might be to kill or snatch Hussein while leaving his fate up in the air. Note that his remaining underlings -- the second or third tier people -- would likely not be motivated to shout his end from the rooftops, if they figure he has a doomsday option. That would be to sign their own death warrants. That dynamic is in our favor, at least. Might be some angles there.

So funny, before all this talk about her, I turned off the TV and said I can't take her any more. Usually I can manage, but her voice was annoying tonight.

: it was indeed a tape
a rehearsal for the actual live speech
that was supposed to be made later.
that's why he wore the glasses and read from the paper copy.
after the attack
all they had available for release was the rehearsal tape.

That's exacly what I thought.
He looked like a buffoon
clumsily flipping the pages
of his cheap notepad
held practically in front of his face.
It looked like a rehearsal.

The rehearsal tape idea makes a lot of sense. The trickiest bit is the reference to the criminal act during morning prayers.

I know nothing about the legal questions.
I just take it for granted
(being a Canadian)
that our masters would rather have it
that we not watch Fox.

Don't forget this is the country
where it is illegal
for farmers
to sell their grain
to anyone
except the official government agency.

(And some have gone to prison for doing this)

Thank you. Here's the reference: "At dawn prayers today on March 20, 2003 (17 Muharram 1424), the criminal, reckless little Bush and his aides committed this crime which he was threatening to commit against Iraq and humanity."

Where can we see the transcript?

From what I understand many Canadians had Direct tv or Dish satellite dishes installed and using a US billing address were able to use them or if not used the somewhat less legal cards to descramble the signals. The reason for this was that the US services had many channels unavailable here in Canada through the cable and satellite services. This was a grey area of law until a ruling was made that these dishes were illegal on grounds of rights holders here in Canada were being infringed. Many still have these dishes and I assume still use them but technically they are illegal and could be confiscated by the police. This is a situation where the police and politicians are treading carefully because it would not go down very well if individual homeowners had this happen to them. Recently the Canadian services have increased the number of channels available to more approximate what is available to US satellite and cable subscribers so the need for a US sat dish is less so now than before. Still no Fox though. I'm not sure if Fox even wants to worry about being available in Canada at this point since they are not in total saturation on cable systems in the US still as far as I know.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one. Thought of writing to FOX stating that her voice grates on us but thought that might be impolite.... but then, she talks so fast, like she's out of breath, and then makes anti Bush type insinuations. Sorry, but I find MSNBC much more soothing to my ears when she's on.

Funny, never thought I'd enjoy listening to Horaldo the "whore" ...but he actually frequently acts very patriotic says things that sez he loves this country and our military. That's good enough for me.

The rehearsal idea feels like it could be right. I didn't think of it when watching the tape; I just wondered at why it looked so unprofessionally done. But that would explain it.

The reference to the time of the attack is more problematic. I guess it's possible that those few words were spliced in. A speaker of Arabic would have to watch the videotape to see if that seems feasible; there's no way to tell from the transcript, or even from watching the dubbed-in English version.
