Black Muslim US soldier is a suspect! ("10 U.S. Soldiers Hurt In Grenade Attack")

(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.

Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.

"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.

Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.

The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.

The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.

Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.

The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

I'm an ex military guy. I don't know how executions are handled under the rules of the UCMJ. I would speculate that hanging is no longer an option.

What I will say is that I hope that the trial and, hopefully, the execution take place in the field and very quickly, before the likes of Calypso Louie, Jessee Jackson, the NAACP, CAIR, Conyers, and all the other usual suspects have time to gin up the ignorant opposition.

Fact: No organized religion is free of atrocities committed by individuals or groups of individuals in the name of said religion.

Fact: Religion does not fly planes, pull triggers, nor throw hand grenades. People do. Cf. "guns do not kill people, people do."

The last two years have really flushed out some religious bigotry, and IMO all too many have "enjoyed" all this in the same way that KKK members "enjoyed" the LA riots.

Last time I looked, conservatives believed in individual, not collective responsibility.

BTW, those people who are greeting us as liberators aren't exactly Zoroastarians.

That black muslims here in America are indeed a black white issue no matter how much you might wish it away. Do you listen to their White Devil speeches?

If the individual in question were a White Supremacist with the Turner Diaries in his rucksack and spouting some perverse Christian dogma would you also hope that it too would not be made into a "black/white" issue?


There are legions of homegrown black muslims in this nation who despise white folks and hate this country. You cannot claim that a parallel exists among whites in the same proportion.

The fact that I recognize this for what it is defines a distinction between myself and what I can gather from you and your replies.

Most Brazilians don't even know what they are (and aren't as obsessed with race as many of us are). I can't believe I woke up this morning and this thread almost 1,400 posts long. Does it matter if he was a muslim who is black, or a black muslim? I've been hearing this stuff for years from the NOI. This is not new. It shouldn't matter, but I have a feeling that the reason this thread is so long is because he's a muslim in the military. I don't think the reaction would have been different if he were white or anything else.

I also woke up to news that we have POWs. How sad. A woman killed possibly, sad also. I hope she wasn't a mommy.

Sorry, I'm still not clear on what truth it is you think I'm avoiding. That black Muslims exist and often speak of "white devils" is a fact; what makes you think I'd deny it? But do we know yet whether the soldier in this case is black?

I'm as concerned with the truth as anyone, as much so as yourself I daresay. But I'm also interested in winning, which means changing people's minds. The trick is to speak the truth with love; telling the truth is not really an excuse for being presumptuous about people's assumptions and insulting about their motives.

I'm not a preacher, by the way, just an old history teacher.
