Dear President Chirac,

Just a quick note to ensure you understand millions of Americans will never forget you and your country’s cowardice.

We have somewhat considered you an ally and a friend. That perception has recently shifted for all times. And trust me, it is permanent.

I and millions of other Americans are now encouraging our elected officials, President Bush’s administration and business leaders to change their thinking about France. You will see in the future a new punitive approach towards our relationship with your country.

Don’t expect a public announcement regarding this shift. But it will happen.

With friends like France who needs enemies. We are quickly discovering who our real friends are. It is not you or your country. I imagine a few years down the road there will be hell to pay for your position in the history books and your political party’s future.

We’re tired of your slander and your weak knees. Thanks for all your help in the United Nations.

Dear President Chirac,

I just want to assure you that, regardless of what you have heard, there
are many Americans and others around the world, who understand France's
unenviable position.  We find it hard to blame you, since we know that
your actions are a normal response to the unfortunate situation that you
find yourselves in, even if it is a situation that your made for
yourselves.

France simply finds herself in the position of the male gorilla, who after
being ousted from his alpha male position within the pack, turns and beats
his chest and roars loudly...

...before retreating meekly into the obscurity of the jungle, never to be
paid heed again.

It must be very distressing to be so suddenly forced to the realization
that your country, not only is, but for a long time has been, totally
irrelevant and only exists because other countries, the USA in particular,
have repeatedly bailed France out.  May I suggest that you prevail upon
the US government for foreign aid, to supply top quality American
psychiatric counseling, to help you and your people deal with that
reality.

Though I am not usually disposed to support foreign aid to developed
countries, I realize that France is in fast decline and would therefore
support such a request, with letters to my elected representatives in
Washington, DC.  I'm sure that many other Americans would support such a
request for psychiatric aid to the French government and people.  After
all, most Americans are inclined to help third world countries, such as
France seems destined to become.

French Ban Fireworks at Euro Disney (AP), Paris, March 5, 2003

The French Government announced today that it is imposing a ban on the use of fireworks at Euro Disney.

The decision comes the day after a nightly fireworks display at the park, located just 30 miles outside of Paris, caused soldiers at a nearby French Army garrison to surrender to a group of Czech tourists.
