Women in the Military
myself

Posted on 03/22/2003 3:13:07 PM PST by MarcoPolo

I've got a serious question that I need some Freeper help with. I know that in World War II women were able to serve separately from men in the Armed Forces in such services as the WACS and the WAVES. Are there any such women's only corps in our services today? This is an honest question. I have wanted badly to serve my country, but I have almost always felt that women's roles in the military should not be a soldiers but as equally important nurses, intelligence officers, and other support staff. ANY FEMALE SOLDIERS OR VETS READING THIS PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED. I'm genuinely interested in knowing this stuff, so if any Freeper can help I'd be most appreciative.

The LAST great female warrior ( I do NOT include Joan of Arc ! )was Boedicea, whose daughters were raped and then murdered, in front of her eyes, by Roman troops ( but then, they were princesses royal, and this was PRIOR to her mother's great putch against the Romans ! )millenia ago. She was not a " common soldier "...she was THE QUEEN AND THE COMMANDER IN CHEIF . Big difference !

Yes, there is and has been an ever growing problem, with women in our military, since the crazy Feminazis made such a stink about women in the armed services.

I have been watching Saddam. He looks surprisingly healthy; even though he is spewing gibberish. I wonder WHEN, exactly, this was taped.

What do we call the so-called Conservatives, who are swamping FR and wouldn't know what Conservatism is, if it bit them on the nose ? Don't ask me; Jim would ban me, on the spot, if I posted the names I'm thinking of. LOL

I have been a suffregist ( those who don't know the difference, should look it up ! ), for my entire life. At no time, have I EVER agreed with those who thought/think that women belong in the front lines. Are there women, who could kill and not turn into mush ? Yes, there are. Can women stand more pain than men ? You bet they can ! OTOH, women can't take being raped and more often than not, the men in their lives can NOT live with that happening, to a far worse degree. That and many being little more than " camp followers ", claiming military " rights " , spells disater for our military !

It is a very bad idea for women to serve in the roles you mention. They do not belong in them. Nor do they belong in combat, which is soon to come.

One more thing, sending any woman, in any capacity, ANYWHERE in the middle east including Iraq, is INSANE. If captured they will abuse our women as badly as they do their own.

You have a rather strange attitude, for a supposed Conservative. You see women as disposable sex toys and think that they " HUMANIZE " the military. Chauvanistic, primative thinking, combined with feminazi spew is NOT logical nor Conservative thought/positions.

You're rather young...right ?

You are absolutely correct. Capable or not capable, women serving in military operations is a BAD idea.

How many women returned home pregnant after Desert Storm??

Having women fly combat aircraft is now PC driven

The NOW freaks insist on it. When a planeload U.S. women get shot down, taken prisoner, and kept as sex slaves by those filthy barbarians (who will probably videotape it).....only then will (some) people begin to question this incredibly stupid policy.

I seldom reply in a fashion that night be considered a personal attack, but this time I hear my own split-tails under attack. What urks me is that it comes from somebody who is almost a homefry. I used to live right next to Braddock's Landing at the end of Victoria Boulevard.

I did twenty years with the Army, most of it in Korea. If it's north of Seoul, I don't need a frigging map. I only had two females during that time, out of dozens, that weren't as nasty as us males. Both were chaptered out.

If I told Marcie and Maria to change the inside dualies on a twice-and-a-half, I didn't have to check back later. If I was on the DMZ and told Yvette and Sandi to cover me, I knew I had two mean perpetual PMS'ing wenches watching my six. Lori sat exposed under a ROK 155mm artillery shoot where they hosed the coordinates completely talking the rest of us out of the new & totally unexpected impact area.

You talk about pregnancies shipboard or in REMF assignments. Yeah, it might be a problem to those who deal in admistrivia. "Damn, we be short a typist!" You do not see that in the line units. Even if the wench is chasing everyone who doesn't squat to pee.

Let's see now -- 6'5" and 220 pounds. Yvette would have tied you in a knot like a stale pretzel, stuffed you in her duffel bag, and probably have forgotten your existence.

I am so impressed by the depth of your thinking. Women should serve in military operations so they are fit and thus more enjoyable for you in bed. The most logical argument I have read on any topic today, NOT!

Hey Porter!

Get back to me in 20 years when you have a wife and kids.

How a woman's body looks maye serve her well as a stripper or in espionage where indeed women have special talents as exhibited quite a bit in WWII but all that hasn't squat to do with him in combat or onboard ships or training with men....or being in our service academies....yes...I go way back in my opposition to this crap.

Their introduction has nearly ruined an institution in which my family and I have a great legacy...VMI.

That's very interesting.

Your experience is quite different than my father in law who served in combat in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam (2 tours). He says there were no women in combat that he saw in any of those conflicts. Career NCO and tough as nails. He like nearly every other American ground combat vet I know disagree completely with your relatively unique experience.

I have no idea where Braddocks Landing or Victoria Blvd. are but the sentiment is heartwarming.

Bullcrap if that thinking ever left. There's no greater distraction than a female in harm's way. That's one of the top 100. I'll be unveiling one per day for 100 days. Stay tuned feminazis.

I think it was for sure Saddam but I think it was a generic retread tape. He would certainly make a statement or hold a paper proving he is alive....unless he is clever by half.

You're forgetting WW I and Mata Hari ! Women make great spies ; always have done. But, they don't belong in combat. Heck, even as spies ( Mata Hari, again ), they have been shot by firing squad.

Just a little early morning history lesson. :-)

So you are equating skin color with gender? Go make a ham and cheese or something...(that sounds good right now)

It WAS an early tape ! Saddam made NO mention of the American POWs, which would have bee a HUGE coup and something he would have mentioned, were he alive. Also, he praised a general, who surrendered to the Americans, Y-E-S-T-E-R-D-A-Y...Saturday.

Now you're making the same sorry excuses as the nags from Now and they were racists, for doing so.

Men and women are VERY different ; this difference is physical and emotional...though in your case, maybe not. LOL

Women do have special talents for espionage I must admit.

Pillow talk has been a problem since war was invented I'd guess.
