I agree it's a very big deal, but it sounds like something done on the spur of the momement. Right now, if he's guilty, it's either an act of sabotage, or a "crime of passion" (I hate that term, but that seems most appropriate), i.e. he got pissed over something, or got scared of going into combat and it got to him.

He could have given away info, but I'd be willing to bet money that if their camp is fully of local contractors, the place is crawling with spies.

Sure wish I was wrong--that there had been no attack.

It will be genuinely interesting to see if this gets "PCed" by the media.

UCMJ:

(a) "Any person subject to this chapter who--

(1) with intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, refuse, in concert with any other person, to obey orders or otherwise do his duty or creates any violence or disturbance is guilty of mutiny;

(2) with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or other disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition;

(3) fails to do his utmost to prevent and suppress a mutiny or sedition being committed in his presence, or fails to take all reasonable means to inform his superior commissioned officer or commanding officer of a mutiny or sedition which he knows or has reason to believe is taking place, is guilty of a failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition.

(b) A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct."

(c) Unless that person is black in which case his arse must me kissed profusely by every white person who dares accuse him on penalty of being called a racist.

"I know your probably not intentionally slandering that young Marine, but please, that's going a bit far. There were tons of witnesses who saw the chopper fly into the oil smoke and crashed, including video taken by Oliver North or his cameraman (which thankfully appears to have stopped being run) as well as other pilots in the flight who accidently flew into the smoke (this was at night) and reported that their nightvision equipment stopped working makes sense - the smoke from oil burning would blot out what light is needed for the nightvision equipment."

Nope. Just curious. To all involved with the 101st Airborne it probably appeared to be an act of the (outside) enemy. Upon further investigation it may well turn out to be one of our own.
Who would have thought that would happen? Not me, but it appears that anything is now possible and one cannot help but be synical or skeptical about anyone related to Muslims- as sad as that sounds.
Now may the bashing of me for that statement begin.

13 injured. Not life-threatning . . . thank you.

US Soldier in custody. Black Muslim-American. Has been with the unit for a "long time."

MSNBC, playing the PC crowd, refuses to classify the alleged perpetrator as a Muslim.

Oh, they're looking to bury or confuse that little tidbit. Stop for a minute and listen. Hear that? It's their brainwaves. That's how hard they're working that little problem.

Charges? Attempted murder?

I say stake him out in the sand and play "Roll the Grenade" with him. Render some of the grenades inert just to play with his mind.

Retired Col. Lougie is back on.

You shouldn't be bashed for that, it's a very legit and very valid concern. A Muslim could see this war as an attack on his religion (there have been enough Islamic leaders describing this as an attack on their religion), and some people may place their religion higher than their loyalty to their country (most of us keep our religious beliefs and our loyalty to our country seperate - after what the Pope and other Catholic leaders have said - you don't see droves of Catholic soldiers refusing to fight, etc.).

Several Islamic leaders have been calling for jihads against the US for years now, even before 9/11, and if this is sabotage and he is a muslim, one of these leaders or whatever could have recently pushed this person over the edge.

You clearly illustrate a difference between Christianity and Islam. While one is primarily a religion of tolerance and peace (don't get me wrong- there have been Christian wars), the other calls for jihad and the extermination of all who do not follow it.
In my eyes, the latter seems to represent all which I have learned about Satan. There are many Christian leaders, including the Pope and Bishops from the UMC as well as others, who oppose this conflict. That is their role and all I can do is pray for forgiveness because I want to see the terrorist bast**s fry.

UMC - United Methodist Church? Save your prayers for forgiveness on that one - they sold out to the liberals back in the '70's.
