As tensions and protests mount on campuses over war in Iraq, Tufts University alumni leaders have revoked an award given to a senior because of her ''inappropriate and offensive'' behavior during a recent campus protest of former President George H.W. Bush.

Why am I not impressed with her academic achievements? Perhaps because they are achievable by anyone with a basic grasp of English and the ability to parrot the anti-American Socialist-Democrat spew of a bunch of Leftie Liberal Arts professors? Not quite like graduating with highest honors from engineering school, say.

they need to discontinue offering these superfluous degrees
that detract from the institution's reputation for quality education.

A women's studies and peace and justice double-major with an A-minus average, Monnin was an architect of a two-day takeover of the Tufts admissions office in 2000 to protest discrimination on campus, and has led other demonstrations over the last four years. Obviously she was graded on the curve here...
Do either of these "Majors" prepare you for your actual futue? If not, I'll tutor you in all you will need for your future endeavours, Elizabeth E. Monnin...

I don't know.
I find it a delicious irony that, while young servicemen and women are willing to pay the ultimate price defending, among other things, free speech, she is so thin-skinned as not to accept the consequences of her own free speech.
No one is "silencing" her; they are merely pointing out that there is sometimes a price to pay for standing up for that which you believe.
Way to go, Tufts alums.
