VENTURA COUNTY - RALLY FOR AMERICA FINAL PREPARATIONS (3/22)

Sunday, March 23 at 11:30 in front of the Ventura County Government Center. Corner of Telephone and Victoria. Take Victoria Exit off the 101 freeway. Head towards the mountains. We will be about 2 miles up.

Today we need to finalize our tactical preparations for tommorrow. We will have plenty of press - let's make sure we have plenty of warm bodies. I talked to the Watch Command of the Sherrif's Department - there will be a couple of police officers there just to make sure any antiwar people don't cause trouble.

We need to coordinate trash removal, manning our command post (table), taking pictures, meeting with the press, etc. Please check in with a post or freepmail if you are planning on attending and how many people you estimate will be joining us.

It's not too late to get the word out - I've been handing out flyers to people that have their American Flag out. Response has been very good. Take a moment to tell 5 or 10 people about our rally - let's get the numbers going!!

I know this Courthouse well. It can also be reached via the 126 from Santa Clarita (a beautiful drive folks!). It is a very busy intersection in a fairly nice neighborhood. I hope to be there with a flag:

Hooray for our Star freep!

From our family there will be two definite. May be one or two from my office. From church, could be a few for the last hour, after church is over and allowing for travel to Ventura. I'll continue to notify some today. Think there's a Republican demo by The Oaks Mall today, so will go by and give some posters.

Manning the table: I volunteer to help there off and on; am using a cane and this would be more comfortable. Camera: May get a digital today. If so, will bring it. Otherwise will bring a regular camera. Cleanup: Will bring some trash bags.

Any coordinated plans for FreeRepublic name tags including the FreeRepublic web site address?

My wife has been deathly ill -- for a few days her doctor thought it might be SARS. She seems to be on the mend now but her condition will determine whether I/we can attend. If I'm not there in person I'll be there in spirit.

Could someone please elaborate on the Star freep? Boy, does that liberal rag ever need it!!

Check out our post dated 3/18. The Star wanted to list our rally under Peace Rallies and boy did Tim Gallagher hear about it. He got some choice e-mails - some of which are published on the thread.

Sorry to hear about your wife - that is very, very scary! If you can't be there in person, send us your freeper vibes during the day!

Definitely stop by the rally today - the organizer of it, Mike, said he would try to get his people to come to ours. I was going to run up, but if you could save me the trip - that would be wonderful.

Name Tags are a great idea - are you volunteering? I did a poster that has our website address on it but it would be nice if we had a way to identify one another.

Sign Suggestion:

Put our website on the back of your signs (the ones with no profanities). Also, it would be nice to put any associated squadron/battalion identification - I think people will be borrowing some of these signs and it will be a good way to get the word out about us and who we support.

Thanks to both of you for helping us get organized. That sure was a fateful freepmail Bob J. left 10 days ago regarding the interview with KVTA. At that time, the Ventura Chapter and the Rally for America wasn't even a twinkle in anybody's eye!

KVTA has beenrunning spots onthe rally in T.O. today & ours tomorrow!! The info runs about every 30 min. or so. They are also running snippits of the interview they did with me yesterday! I have personally heard them mention our rally 3 times tis morning!!! WOOHOO to KVTA!!!!

I got the word out to people on base yesterday..i got confirmations from 3 or 4 people. I am going to a "party" on base tonite and will spread the word there!

That is really fantastic because a lot of people in the area listen to KVTA. I get the feeling that they are really behind us. The people that I know are going always seem to be bringing a couple of family members/friends in tow. I think we are going to have a GOOD TURNOUT!
