Straw aide 'quits over war'

A senior adviser to Jack Straw, the Foreign Secretary, has resigned after an apparent disagreement over the legality of military action in Iraq.
The departure of Elizabeth Wilmhurst, deputy legal officer since 1997 at the Foreign Office, will embarrass the Government, since Tony Blair has repeatedly argued that armed intervention by American and British Forces was justified under international law.
Lord Goldsmith, the Attorney General, has reassured the Cabinet that legal cover is provided by the UN resolution 1441 passed four months ago. But his interpretation has been disputed by many eminent lawyers.
A Foreign Office spokesman refused last night to discuss the reasons for Ms Wilmhurst's sudden resignation, but strongly denied it had undermined the legal case for war.

"What is with these lefty female govt ministers?" The operative word it "lefty" (i.e. people who support communism over their country's interests).

The departure of Elizabeth Wilmhurst, deputy legal officer since 1997 at the Foreign Office, will embarrass the Government... Blah blah blah....The media is doing everything they can to portray the British govt. full of in-fighting and falling apart over the war. It's all crap.
As for the people who insist that we follow international law, they can go piss up a rope. International law is invoked to stop the spread of freedom and to prop up third-world dictatorships.
When Saddam was raping and murdering Kuwaiti citizens and stealing billions of their dollars, the "international" community was dead silent (in almost all cases, the "international" community that the media loves and quotes consists of a bunch of Euro-fag socialists and Islamofascist dictators). They gripe on us but don't give a damn about Saddam's obedience of international law.

These Liberal Party leftists are not astute politicians. Tony Blair is playing against type, and can only do so with the assistance of the Conservatives. The result is that Blair will leave the Conservatives little room to run a candidate against him. (Why vote Conservative if Blair delivers like a Liberal on social issues but confronts aggression with the resolve of Winston Churchill?) It is not very likely that unhappy Liberal Party members can depose Blair and win against a socially WMD. When the dust clears in Iraq and Saddam is gone, Blair's popularity in Britain will rise.

Sorry, that should read:
It is not very likely that unhappy Liberal Party members can depose Blair and win against a socially liberal candidate who stands firm against terrorism and the spread of WMD.

What the frig is going on in London. I was watching the local news and the protests are disgustingly huge. In Hyde Park there are 700,000 people. Of coure this was totally organized and paid for (Its not like these people have a mind of thier own - its totally controled like the robots they are). But these people need to put a lid on it for their soldiers sake!

What is with these lefty female govt ministers? That's what you get when you pamper ANYBODY and put them on a pedestal. Slap the crap out of them and put'em on the front lines - just like you would ANYBODY else. That'll cure'em. Bring on the flames, I'm ready.....

One must squeeze a lanced boil to express and remove the diseased matter. It would seem that Doctor's orders are having good results in places other than Iraq as well.

Enjoy the unemployment b$tch! Not for long unfortunately. I'm sure she coverd her ass checking out the options before she announced her resignation. You will probably end up hearing her smarmy voice on PBS or BBC or any number of basket weaving institutes.

I'd never even heard of her. Oh well, obscurity was her constant companion before, it is her everlasting fate now.
