USWAR/US embassy in Berlin under siege by 50,000 anti-war protesters

Berlin, March 20, IRNA -- Some 50,000 people, mostly high school
students, on Thursday demonstrated in front of the US embassy in
Berlin, to protest against the start of the American war in Iraq.
Chanting anti-American slogans, demonstrators carried signs
saying 'Say no to war, say no to Bush', 'No blood for oil' and 'Bush
get off this earth'.
"It's all about saying no to the world policeman and warmonger
George W. Bush," a student protestor told IRNA.
"America has to understand it cannot act against the will of the
rest of the world which seeks peace and not war," another demonstrator
said.
Hundreds of policemen were on alert against possible violent
confrontations.
Hundreds of thousands of pupils and teachers walked out of
classrooms in major German cities, including Frankfurt, Stuttgart and
Rostock, to make their opposition to the war felt.
Authorities have beefed up security at all US, British, Israeli
and Jewish installations all over Germany.
Further mass anti-US war protests are expected for the next days.
