According to the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al Kabas", Hussain was compelled to go on such step after has learned(found out) that his(its) successor is going to leave(abandon) Iraq. We shall remind, yesterday Udai has made with the official statement that Bagdad categorically refuses to consider(examine) the showed(presented) the US ultimatum.

As senior son of Saddam, members of his(its) family has informed yesterday under any pretext are not going to leave(abandon) Iraq. (Online) translation from Russian based on report from Kuwait. I have no idea if this report is true... but it not totally unbelievable... Hussein's relatives tried to escape before.

Recall that Hitler arrested Goering (and, asacr, Himmler) for treason in his last days....

That sounds like a reasonable conjecture.

Well, it's uconfirmed, but I could see it..Udai makes Reinhard Heidrich look like a cute, cuddly fellow even Saddam didn't feel safe around. I think Udai tried to make a deal of his own, or start the war himself? But we can't say much till it's confirmed.

Yeap. We'll know in the morning, I guess. If this turns out to be true, remember that FR got it first.

I don't think its true about Saddam's sons but don't be surprised if the rest of his inner circle began looking out for how to save their own skins.

Saddam is a narcissistic and paranoid man, he would do this.

Don't know if it is true but I would believe it.

Wouldn't be the first time for Saddam. If memory serves, Udai had to be spirited out of Iraq at one point in the past to avoid his father's wrath after Udai killed Saddam's food taster for hooking Saddam up with loose women (thus disgracing Udai's mother).

If I were a murderous tyrant, I wouldn't choose to exile in Saudi Arabia, either.

BTW, Saddam must be hysterical by now by the lack of sleep alone.
