What exactly or inexactly did Eric Altmen do?....
To: stanz; Deb
Isn't this the guy that is obsessed with FR?
To: stanz
For some reason his name sounds familiar. I think he might be the one that wrote a book saying that the media isnt biased or something along those lines. If so, he was on a local station being interviewed and hawking his book several weeks ago. I got the impression that hes a loudmouth, if its the same person.

The following is a response I received from Eric Alterman of MSNBC.com regarding a thread that got pulled recently which bashed the president. Maybe some of you will want to respond to Mr. Alterman. I asked: Why not ask me or all my friends and family and all the members of Free Republic.com for our opinions?
His reply: because my guess is you're all idiots, but thanks
Not surprising from a liberal

I'd bash him but I would rather he came on here to debate - problem is he probably scared and like a cockroach he will flee when the light of truth comes on.

Alterman needs a new gynecologist.
To: stanz
I sent Alterman the following e-mail:
Dear Eric: Have you ever actually been right about anything? Please cite examples.

Flash Back to ....1776 whose side would these a holes be on?
or 1941...who would they be defending in their rags?.....
If George Washington or even the ACLUs delight (of course they lie about him) Thomas Jefferson were president..
Imagine the outrage...from hollywood or the media (of course the filth they spew if GW were president they would all be hanging from trees or on ships to some distant land where they could live as the academically indolent monkeys they are)

Is he the guy who goes to a proctologist to get his hearing checked? Never heard of him.

Here's the text from the article that was nuked.
A NEW WORLD? I PREFER THE OLD ONE
When George Bush took office in January 2001, he did not have majority support of the nation or the legitimacy of a genuine winner, but he did have a nation at relative peace, a budget in surplus, a Dow Jones Industrial Average that was approximately 30 percent higher than it is today, a nation with most of our civil liberties intact and the good opinion of much of the world, particularly our NATO allies. That America is gone forever now. And while much of the changes that ensued can be laid at the feet of Al-Qaeda and the attacks of 9/11, a great many of them are merely the result of the Bush Administrations unconscionable but successful exploitation of that tragedy.
We are now about to enter a world in which the values we practice are pre-emptive war, fiscal indiscipline, domestic theocracy and the good opinion of human kind be damned. Since 9/11, Bush and company have done almost everything possible to alienate the world and inspire more terrorists to hate us, despite the initial wellspring of sympathy and solidarity the attacks inspired worldwide. Meanwhile, for all its collective bluster, the Bush crowd has done almost nothing to protect the nation from the entirely predictable consequences of their folly and the hatred we have engendered across the Islamic and Arab worlds. (Read this incredible TNR story on homeland security by Jonathan Chait if you doubt my word.)
All I can say at this deeply depressing moment in our history is that may Providence have mercy on our nation and those who are about to become the victims of our misguided crusade, and may its beneficiaries in Iraq make the most of it.

Eric wrote that nasty column about Ann Coulter because she looks better in a dress than he does.
To: stanz
Poor Ms. Alterman, ought to seek help at the soonest possible moment.
To: stanz
Some things never change. Eric is still trying to locate his buttocks.

Eric and his buddies didn't believe there was a "Silent Majority" in the 1970's either... And he certainly didn't believe there were any Reagan Democrats.
Let's face it: Eric and his buddies have been wrong for about the last 35 years. And he's wrong now with his basic thesis that there isn't a liberal bias in the news media (Hello: what about the polls showing 89% Demo registration by the Washington press corp vs. 6% GOP registration? That's really the only statistic that needs to be tossed to Mr. Alterman... I wish John Gibson and some of the other stupid talking heads would merely challenge with that FACT).

Witty Reply to Alterman: Everytime I see the Snickers TV spot where the bald guy's co-workers gather around him for an intervention, I think of you. Everybody knows you're bald, so why keep up the pretense that you're not?
Serious Reply to Alterman: If you believe the WOT is a pre-emptive war, then you must not have had friends who died on 9/11. We were attacked on 9/11, but you've still got your head stuck in a 9/10 world.
