Tritt appeared on FOXNews this morning to respond to ongoing controversy of the statements made by the Dixie Chicks in London. Tritt explained many outspoken celebrities just don't understand the stress level of the families of the military men and women. Working with the VFW, Tritt said, he has encountered a large number of young military wives with young children. Many would break down in tears when talking with him and the last thing they need to hear is some half-cocked entertainer making statements against the Commander in Chief.
Tritt said the DC comments were made in front of a club audience and she got a big cheer from a foreign nation not attacked on 9/11. Making comments there instead of here is cowardly, Tripp said.
Tritt was asked if he thought the DC had gone Hollywood or Glam. With class,Tritt didn't comment as he said at one time they had opened for him; however he did not know them well.
Will they survive all this? Tripp was asked. If they do some free shows for the military to show support, Tritt replied, believing this would make the apology more acceptable. Yes, they will survive, he added.
When asked if he has a song coming out soon supporting the military, Tritt said, Songs are a gift from God.. some written are good if inspired by the heart.. is a good thing, not if for monetary value."
Travis Tritt has received the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall of Fame Award for his distinguished service to the nation, veterans and the armed forces.
Tritt has portrayed a disabled veteran in three music videos, and his concert video ``Travis Tritt, A Celebration'' was recorded during a performance for disabled veterans. http://www.sonynashville.com/TravisTritt/

Hmmm awards from the VFW, the same group that addresses their members as comrade, supported Paul red Wellstone, and supports a politician who thinks OBL is the same as the founding fathers.
Don't think I would want an award from them.

I'm not so quick to bash Travis. He seems to be doing a good thing. His heart is in the right place. Isn't he working with The Disabled Veterans of America?

Toby Keith's new song with Willie Nelson:
Example, his duet with Willie Nelson goes like this:
Well, a man come on the 6 o'clock news,
Said somebody's been shot, somebody's been abused.
Somebody blew up a building, somebody stole a car.
Somebody got away. somebody didn't get too far, yeah.
They didn't get too far.
Grandpappy told my pappy: "Back in my day, son,
"A man had to answer for the wicked that he done.
"Take all the rope in Texas, find a tall oak tree,
"Round up all of them bad boys, hang them high in the street,
"For all the people to see that:
"Justice is the one thing you should always find.
"You got to saddle up your boys,
"You got to draw a hard line.
"When the gunsmoke settles, we'll sing a victory tune.
"We'll all meet back at the local saloon,
"We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces,
"Singing: 'Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses.'"
We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds,
We've got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets.
It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground.
Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down:
You can bet he'll settle 'em down 'cause,
Justice is the one thing you should always find.
You got to saddle up your boys,
You got to draw a hard line.
When the gunsmoke settles, we'll sing a victory tune.
We'll all meet back at the local saloon,
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces,
Singing: "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses."

Who's bashing Travis? That was directed at the VFW, which at one time I used to admire.

Huh?? When did the Veterans of Foreign Wars become an anti-American org?
Maybe your local chapter has been taken over by socialist/communists/and other wierdos, but I am NOT any of those things!
So please explain, LOUDLY and CLEARLY why you ASSume this?

The only way to neutralize the Dixie Chix controversy is if they are invited to play at the white house and it is understood by all that thre reason this is being done is GW Bush saving the Dixie Chix from obscurity.
You will note they are the ones who snubbed GW by refusing an invitation to play at his inauguration. This would make it doubly sweet.

We don't want to save the Ditzy Chicks...we want their careers destroyed as an example of what happens when you shoot your mouth off.
To: dts32041
Well ... that's because you don't understand Travis' commitment to this group. Don't throw stones unless you have all the facts.

I want them erased too. (our local country staition is refusing to stop playing them, more payola?) I am just pointing out that their only hope lies in the person they hate most and its the same person they insulted now, repeatedly, and quite publicly two years ago.

Travis Tritt REALLY needs to get a new hairstyle. He looks like a bartender in Forsythe County circa 1987.

No We Don't...we want them to rethink what they did, and apologize
to President Bush and our Country in a contrite way. Then we can forgive them each one, as he seems fit.
If they don't then I hope she isn't allowed to sing karoke at the pool hall.
Country people forgive all the time, in fact its the first reaction. I don't hope she hits bottom,
I hope she makes some changes.
