I tried to take some photos but it was night time in Puerta del Sol and my flash, for some reason, would not flash. So all I got was blobs of color, because the camera slows when there's low light and people were, of course, still moving.

A particularly ugly scene was a group of young men (university or high school students, by the look of them) dancing around in a circle waving a couple of these red flags. The stuff of nightmares.
