WASHINGTON (CNN) -- As the United States moved closer to war Monday, politicians from both parties lined up behind the president as he issued a 48-hour deadline for Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to leave power or face military action.

Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, who earlier in the day had lashed out at President Bush, saying he had "failed so miserably" at diplomacy in the crisis with Iraq that the United States now stands on the brink of war, issued a statement after Bush's televised address assuring the president of congressional unity.

Daschle is an ugly little bum!

I hope the people of South Dakota send him packing next year.

Daschle has had it politically. He is going to do as much damage to the country as he can on his way out.

Daschle has had it politically. He is going to do as much damage to the country as he can on his way out.

President Bush has had to deal with enemies, foreign and domestic, like no other president since Abraham Lincoln.

Daschle wears his heart on his face.

His ugly wrinkled scowl reflects the hate that eats at his soul.

His past choices have been as poor as the Taliban.

He has a heart? That's funny, I've never seen it or any evidence of it.

." But the Connecticut Democrat also faulted "the Bush administration's unilateralist, divisive foreign policy, which has pushed a lot of the world away."

The backing of thirty eight other countries is unilateralist?

Don't do anything to protect us George, unless the whole world gives its permission.

I'm so sick of that word being used to describe what's going on here. And the media is not challenging anyone when they use it. Unbelievable.

Tom Daschle Breaks Wind

[W]hat Daschle had to say about Saddam and his weapons back when Bill Clinton was president:

"Look, we have exhausted virtually our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so? ... The answer is, we don't have another option. We have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily."

Now that we have a Republican in the White House who is finally going to do what Clinton should have done ten years ago?

Daschle says that he’s “.. saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we’re now forced to go to war.” Wow, that’s quite a switch from his Clinton era pronouncements, isn’t it?"

The news pundits keep trying to explain the terrorists' hate. Who can explain Daschle's intense hate?
